I'm looking for anyone who has combined the Common Core with Daily 5 and possibly CAFE (about to read it). In the past, I have used many parts, but not all of Daily 5, and none of CAFE. However, everything is changing this year, as we are implementing the Common Core, so I thought I would try some organizational changes while trying to improve student self-management and comprehension at the same time (ambitious, huh?). Any suggestions or comments would be welcome. Oh, and we are currently using Harcourt Storytown as well. :help:

The sisters have correlated the CAFE menu to the Common Core, you should be able to google it. Daily Five is all about structuring your class for independence - you can use that with anything

We don't do the CAFE in Kindergarten.. definitely want to try some goal setting with my students this year though! I agree with ancientcivteach, Daily Five is more about the students working independently on reading by themselves, with others, listening to reading, word work, and writing. I love, love it! It's how I pull my groups for guided reading and it works so well! Good luck :)

    Daily 5 is only structure.
CAFE will match to the common core...and waht does not can be adjusted.

    Thanks, y'all! I've been in a class, or I would've responded sooner!
