With all the new books on Common Core available, does anybody have a favorite that they would recommend?

It depends on the grade--here are a few for grades 3-6

    Lincoln: A Photobiography Russell Freedman
    Charlotte’s Web E.B. White
Bud, Not Buddy Christopher Paul Curtis

Thank you for your reply, readingrules12.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I'd like to buy a resource book or two that give teachers ideas on how to best teach the standards (elementary level). When I look on Amazon.com, there are many titles to choose from. I'm just wondering if anyone is using a certain book that they would recommend for this purpose.

A couple that look good to me are:
The Common Core: Teaching K-5 Students to Meet the Reading Standards by Maureen McLaughlin and Brenda Overturf
    and
Pathways to the Common Core: Accelerating Achievement by Lucy Calkins, Mary Ehrenworth, and Christopher Lehman

I love pretty much anything by Lucy Calkins.

What is it you like about this book? I have it, but it looks like it just has a bunch of units consistent with common core. Am I thinking of the right one?

Sometimes I have problems visualizing how to put a lesson/unit together. This book (written by teachers), gives me concrete examples that I can take and make my own (or change completely) to ensure I cover all of the standards (and do so correctly). It is written in a way that I understand, and is not a boring read. I have a number of others, but that's just my favorite. I think it will be especially helpful to me next year, as I am moving from first to third, and will be teaching more with units.
