Does anyone have these? I have a small set that I have made a poster with, but I'd love to have big ones like those shown here..... http://www.thekcrew.net/rooms.html scroll down and you'll see her beautiful color monsters. Red, read lost it's head Blue, blue is sick with the flu Green, green is a dancing queen Pink, Pink sat in a sink and it goes on
Me too! I have small ones, but I already used them to make a poster. I want big ones to display on the wall.... Anybody??????? I got them from another teacher who has taught awhile, so I think they are old.
I have them in my room. They were in there when I got the room. They really look like they were homemade. They are construction paper cut-outs that have been laminated.
Wow, I can't believe more people haven't seen or heard of them. They are sooo cute and great visuals that help kids remember colors. I guess I will have to tear my poster apart and blow up the pictures of the monsters. I wonder if this will work.....
I saw the monsters before on the kcrew website, but I didn't realize there were different sayings. Does anyone have a whole list of the poems? I could draw the monsters myself I think. Those are really cute.
Kooky Colors By a Kindergarten Teacher Black, black plays quarterback. Blue, blue is sick with the flu. Brown, brown your jeans fell down. Gray, gray ate a lunch tray. Green, green is a dancing queen. Orange, orange squished an orange. Pink, pink sat in a sink. Purple, purple had to burple. Red, red forgot his head. White, white smiles at night. Yellow, yellow sat in jello.
I got them! I got them!!!!!!!!! My friend sent them to me via email. So I now have them on my computer. Now I just gotta take them to Staples and have them blown up.
pm me your email - I can forward the whole email. They are ALL on there. I'm soooo excited to have these..
ok, soooooo what are your songs????????? Anyways, I got a big response to send the color monsters. It's easier just to post them and you can get them if you like. I have a yahoo group called kinderfirst. you can go there. They are posted under the FILES section of the group. They name of the file is Color Monsters. I just love them!
http://frogstreetpress.com/scripts/ProductDetail.asp?Product=FST115 The songs I use are pretty close to the Frogstreet songs, they sing about the color and how to spell it - all of my kids could read and write the color words by Christmas
oh those are cute. I don't think my new district has those and I certainly won't spend $200 just to get the CD.
The CD by itself is 14.99 and you can just sing along or make posters of the song yourself. I love the Frogstreet Live DVD too, it is a song for each letter of the alphabet putto animations. Lots of schools have the CDs/Big Books, but the DVD is new. I use it as an introduction to each letter as we learn them and a review at other times. http://frogstreetpress.com/scripts/ProductDetail.asp?Product=FST001
So...how do I find the kinderfirst yahoo group? Sorry, but I am not very up to date on anything technological....
go to yahoo, click on groups. Do a search for kinderfirst. It should come up. let me know if you still can't there.
We use a different version of these monsters that we introduce at the beginning of school. They all have a story about them and how we hope the children won't be like that certain color. Rudy Red: Always rude to others and interrupting. Yelling Yellow: Yells all the time Outburst Orange: Always yelling out, not waiting their turn Greedy Green: Won't share Bossy Blue: Bossing others around Pokey Pink: Walking slow, etc Whiney White: Whiners Tattling Tan: my favorite!! Gross Out Gray: Someone who doesn't wash their hands, or doesn't take care of themselves. I can't remember purple, black, or brown. I will find them tomorrow though! Has anyone else heard of these?
oh, please see if you can find it and let us all know. We would all love to know them. I'm not sure if I get he connection with some of them though. Like Bossy Blue - what does that have to do with him getting sick with flue.
By the way, I asked an older teacher at school today had she heard of the color monsters. She had but she did not have any info on it. She DID give me two different sheets that are related - shape monsters and number monsters!!!! The sheets said that the publishers were Monday Morning...I wonder if they have the color monsters, too.
oh good Lord, I though my search was done and now I need to find the shape monsters and number monsters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for mentioning it.......I think>>>>??????
wcvetwife, the copyright on these that I have are 1982 by Milliken Publishing Co. Anyone even heard of that publishing company. I don't even know if they are still in business.
Monday morning was the publisher for the number and shape monsters. I found them online and ordered a catalog.
These are stories about how they act in school. Like Rudy Red is rude and mean to all the other children. She doesn't use manners and doesn't say please and thank you. Bossy Blue tells everyone else what to do. He pushes people around and acts like he is in charge. I'm going back to school today to look for them. As soon as I find them I will post all colors and their stories!
If they were published when the Color Monsters were that was nearly 30 years ago. They may not be available anymore. I couldn't find Color Monsters ANYWHERE else. But I don't know if they are the same since Color Monsters were published by Milliken Pub.

wcvetwife, I just don't think these products are made anymore. That's why there are impossible to find. I got my color monsters from a teacher who got them from another teacher that has taught for ages....... Even the teacher I got them from has had them for 15 years and they were old then.
I use the color monsters every year, except the students make their own book. We do a page a day and "color" the monster various ways. Sometimes we use paint, or glue on various materials. I checked out the ones posted on kinderfirst. My white one is different. Mine is crying and it says, "White, white, broke his kite." (Must have been updated kind of like the Letter People were a while back.) Our team added a rainbow monster and it says, "Rainbow, rainbow, show what you know." I love starting out the year with the color monsters!
yeah I have color pages to go with these too. I have them make a book too. I've never heard of your version of white.
yeah, yeah I know. I have heard a comment or two on the whole Black, Black is a quarterback. I didn't get it until someone mentioned why it could be a problem. But I still use them. I don't think it's to scary. Our kids come dressed as vampires. So, I relate it to halloween.
I printed off my set today from the kinderfirst group. Thanks so much for making them available! I am starting colors my 2nd week of school, so I am thrilled to have something new to use!
I have been looking EVERYWHERE for these! My kindergarten teacher used these in her classroom. Is there anyway I could get them too?
