Hi, I am new to the states. I have a master's degree in Commerce (Business Management) & some teaching experience. I'm looking forward to build a career in teaching in the U.S. I am interested in appearing for CSET in Business. Could you please help me with the list of colleges that offer teaching credential program in Business in preferably in California. But, if there are good colleges in other states, I'd like to consider them too. Thank you.
Ankita, I don't have a list for you, but I do want to ask you something. Are you talking about teaching business at a high school? The reason I ask is that teaching jobs for business classes in high school are so rarely available, that I don't think it would be wise to seek a credential for teaching business in high school. This is especially true for those who wish to teach using an alternative method of getting their teaching license. Programs like Teach for America are inundated with business professionals who to become teaching professions in high school. Jobs teaching business in high school are hard to come by, and the competition is fierce. You will be up against other people who have 20+ years in the field of business, and who are intimately familiar with business in the United States, which is of course, uniquely different from other countries. Check out the job listings for "high school business teacher" on the major online websites, and you will see, there aren't many of them. The people who get these jobs stay in them until they retire, so there isn't much turn over. I just want you to be forewarned.
Hello RainStorm, Thank you so much for your help & time. I appreciate your taking the time to write to me. Yes, I was looking into courses that would require me to teach business in high schools. I went through the curriculum and found it fairly easy & familiar, as I had already done most of it during my Bachelor’s & Master’s. But yes, I would need a field where I can easily get a job. Which CSET subjects have good job opportunities other than science & social science? I was also looking into Kindergarten & Montessori teaching courses? Which one of these would you suggest I go for? Are there enough jobs available for Montessori teachers or the job pool in Traditional Preschool or Kindergarten is bigger? Being new to the country, I’m just exploring my options and hoping to make a right pick. It is little confusing. So, I really appreciate your help. Thank you.
I’m curious why you went straight from aspiring to teach business in high school to wanting to potentially teach in either preschool or kindergarten. That’s quite a big jump. The job pool for kindergarten is massive. You would encounter fierce competition. It’s not that there are no open positions, it’s just that elementary teaching licenses are a dime a dozen and so many people compete for the same job opening once it opens.
You might also want to look into teaching business at the college level since, as others have stated, it's difficult to find jobs teaching business in high schools.
What did you choose in the end? And what was your experience? I'm currently looking for the same info. Thanks in advance.
I'd also like to read some updates. I'm thinking about my future steps, and this info would really be useful. I'm still finishing my bachelor's degree, but I've already started thinking about my future education. I have some doubts, but I also still have time to think, and now I'm focused on getting my degree. I'm so busy right now. I have a lot of things to do, and I think only thanks to https://essay-company.org/buy-essay-online/ Ive never missed any deadline yet. My schedule is so busy with courses, classes, and writing tasks that it takes a lot of time to finish. But it was so informative to read the info here.
