I've never had a preference for my students, but now I'm moving to a public school and I was thinking there might be a school wide preference for one or the other and I should comply.

The reason I ask is that I wanted to stock up on 15 cent comp books at Wal-Mart (I'm moving to a poor school and need some extras in case students can't buy one). I bought college rule then thought maybe I should've bought wide rule for 10th grade.

I know they prefer wide rule if I say to write one page, etc. but these are going to be for notes, etc. so that won't matter.

I don't have a preference which rule students use. For my class stockpile, though I have wide rule. I have noticed that most students who come unprepared in class have a hard time with the smaller college rule.

BTW--WalMart paper is 15 cents this week? Time to shop.

Thanks. I may just go back and get another box of wide rule and they can have a choice.

Walmart has a pretty good sale right now.

I prefer they use college, but I don't require it. Wide rule just looks so...big! :)

I have big handwriting so I prefer wide ruled. As for my students, I've noticed the same. If their handwriting is small or neat they used college ruled and if it is large or messy they use the wide ruled.

I would just buy a mix of the two kinds.

Did you notice that most loose leaf paper is now sized 8 x 10.5 instead of 8.5 x 11?

Yeah! Just like everything else, you get charged the same amount for less product.

I prefer college ruled....I don't know, just a preference. If a student uses wide-ruled, I don't chew their head off; however, I put college-ruled on my syllabus.

I require that the paper is 8.5 by 11 thats it. There isn't much use for paper any more now that my kids have laptops.

I'm with you. If they have paper that I didn't have to beg, borrow or steal, it's all good with me!
