What are you guys doing about collecting assignments on paper? I used to have a cart where kids dropped them into trays with their class period, now I obviously don't want them all touching the same tray. Also if I'm honest I don't really want to touch their papers. I though about buying buckets and sticking them in the front of the room and then letting the papers sit for a few days before I touch them. What are you guys doing?
Right now we're all virtual. But if/when we come back in-person, I will honestly probably continue to have them turn everything in digitally. I will still have some kids remote even when others are in-person, so that way everyone is also turning things in the same way/in the same place.
We've had a system in place since April that's been working well! My suggestion is to have a set of color-coded bins like this, one for each class. Students can turn in work to one set of bins. You can hold those assignments for three days or so, then grade them. We do things a little different at my school since we're only allowing students to the front doors to pick up and drop off work, but this would probably do the trick in a more immediate environment.
I used to be concerned about this but I haven’t seen any studies that indicate that COVID has been spread by touching common papers. I’ve been back for 6 weeks and wasn’t able to figure out how to “do school “ without touching paperwork or agendas and passes.
We are only giving paper to kids without internet access. I have five kids who need papers, and everyone else is online, even when they are physically in the building.
We are in person, but I have my students turn everything in digitally. We use a program called Kami where I can assign them a pdf on Google Classroom and they can complete their assignment right on the pdf and submit it back to me through Classroom. It has been working well for my students.
