    Hello all,

I have some rsp classes I am subbing in and on Thurs Fri I was told to bring in a movie.

I would like a movie about the cold war. One that is entertaining and educational (I cannot show Red Dawn:lol:).

    Any recommendations?

    Thanks.

"Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb" is certainly entertaining and can be educational if discussion is lead properly.

There are some suggestions and words spoken that might be inappropriate for some age groups.

Goodbye Lenin is about how daily life changed in Berlin after the wall came down. In German with subtitles. Great movie.

"Fail Safe" - I watched it in AP US History back in high school. Back then, we watched the 1964 version with President Henry Fonda. Today, you can also watch the 2000 version with President Richard Dreyfuss.

Be prepared for a heated argument in class about the president's actions at the end. Most of the class agreed with the president that he had no other choice; a sizable minority, of which I was part, were flabbergasted and outraged at his choice, and advocated that the president be charged with treason and crimes against humanity.
