I remember seeing the trailer in theatres... as a book I recall from elementary school myself, I was disappointed to see that it was being made into a rather lousy-looking movie. There's really not enough plot in the book to justify a full-length movie, so they completely changed it... I don't know, it just bothers me.

Well we always do a venn diagram to compare and contrast. I teach in a extremely low poverty school, some of my kids have never been to a theater so this is also an opportunity for my kids to do something fun.

Well, it would definitely be a good activity for them then. I didn't mean to rain on your parade... kids will definitely enjoy it... it's just not one that I am planning to see. :)

Now... I'm not sure when it comes out, but I understand that "Where the Wild Things Are" is coming out in theatres too... the trailers to that one look better in my mind.

I agree about "Cloudy" - it was one of my daughter's favorite books when she was little, and the movie looks like it will be considerably changed. "Wild Things," on the other hand, looks intriguing.

Where the Wild Things Are was my son's absolute favourite book for a time. I almost never go to the theatre, but this is one I will watch for!

I just checked... apparently it's rated PG, but it comes out on October 16th.

Well, if you think about it, Shrek was also originally a short picture book, and they milked that one for THREE very popular movies.

I think the Wild Things movie looks scary for very small kids.
