I have looked all over and can't find a song set to a kids' song that teaches about the different kinds of clouds. Anyone know it? Also, I want my kids to make a thunderstorm-I forget exactly how to do it, snapping, clapping, patting thighs, etc. Anyone know what I am talking about?! THANKS!!!!
This is one of my favorite videos for teaching science. Not for the younger grades... they'd miss too much...but they might laugh. It's about the water cycle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fd1T12IpR6A
I've done the activity Luckyal29 suggests only with everyone in a circle. Students turn and face to one side so everyone is looking at the back of the person in front of them. A leader starts each action and the rest of the group has to listen very carefully for when it changes. Once you get to "patting hands on legs", students gently pat whoever is in front of them on the back, around the shoulder blades. This works with little incident if studens have their eyes closed- they are forced to listen and feel for the rainstorm to go around the circle that way.
Beth, I know exactly what "song" you mean when you say Thunder. We used to do that at Girl Scout camp, and I was a Girl Scout Leader for 12 years. I pulled out my old files, and there it was! Thunder (Rain Storm) Actions: Rub fingers Rub hands Tap legs Stomp feet (reverse)
Yes, I really love that one. And imagine the conversations that can occur from watching it. How can water recycle to be so many places. How can you be a puddle and then in the grandma's tea? Andthat the same water that ...*cough* traveled through the dinosaurs could still be around in the snowflakes. Good Conversation starter.
Sorry... that I don't know. HEY, FORUM MODERATORS!!!! Down HERE! I really wish you would add 2 new areas to your list: 1) Technology in the classroom and 2) Reading Specialists Thanks!!
