Every time I see a closed thread because someone started the same thing in multiple places I wonder if what gets written is true. It always says that veterans of A to Z use the NEW links underneath where our name is on the top right of the page. I have never used those links and instead go to the 2 or 3 categories I post in to see what is new there. I was just curious as to what others actually do?

I hit "All Posts". I think it takes too much time to go into individual categories.

I go to all posts as well. There's no point in duplicating posts in several categories since you can see all posts under "all posts."

I use all new posts. It's the quickest way to see what's going on.

I looked at it for the first time and its nice and all, but then you have to look over to see what category things are in and there could be multiple pages of new threads to look through. I guess since I only look at 2 or 3 different categories its no big deal to me to bounce back and forth between those.

I use "All Posts" unless I've been away from the site for a couple days. Then I go into the categories I want to check so it's easier to sift through.

I use "All Posts" and don't tend to pay too much attention to which sub-forum something is posted in.

I use all posts but then look at each post title and category to see if it is something that interests me.

I don't click ALL POSTS because I generally only go to a few sections, so it's not time consuming. I individually go to where I started a thread (I spot the blue check mark by the topic thread), plus the threads w/ new posts are bolded.

    It changed my life!

I use the all posts button as well. I read whichever thread looks interesting despite which sub forum its in.

I'm a little OCD... I like to go in and out of forums... it may take a bit longer, but I need to do it that way.

I always go to all new posts first. If I don't find enough interesting threads then I will go to Gen Ed, Elem Ed, or Time Out to see if I missed anything. On the new ideas thread that Amanda has going, someone brought up being able to eliminate certain categories from the all new posts, I would love that. I think I very rarely ever click on a job seeker thread.

I check my control panel and then I typically go to "All New Posts." Sometimes I just check specific sections though, like special ed. I also do a lot of searching for different things when I need info or ideas for work.

I just started using All posts and I enjoy it much better than going in and out of the different forums. I will once in a while go through individually, especially if i haven't been on in a while.

Its not limited to two pages. There have been times I find 6 pages of new posts. I think it depends on when the last time you logged on was.

Correct... It shows everything that has been posted since the last time you logged in.

If you aren't using this yet, stay tuned everyone because the upgraded forum will be different. :p

I guess for now I will stick to the way I am used to doing it. I don't think it really takes any extra time and as someone else mentioned its a little of the OCD in me.

I don't ever use "all posts". I only frequent the boards for general education, middle school, secondary, and this one. It takes less time to check just those boards than to sort through the new posts.

Amanda, will the new version allow people to specify forums to include in or exclude from the new-posts list?

I believe so! It looks like you can filter by forum and select one or more. There are also these options:
    New since my last visit
    Past 24 hours
    Past week
    Past 2 weeks
    Past month
    Past 6 months
    Past year

    ....Edited to include other options...
    Just items I follow
    Items I participated in
    Items I started
    Filter by forum

Oooh, Amanda! Me likey. Often, if I'm browsing on my phone and forget to close the window, then I get logged in when I don't mean to and miss out on new posts. That option will soon be my fav!

I always go to "all posts"- I really like that it puts a check mark on those that you posted in too. I first go through and check anything I've personally posted in, and then I go back to the all posts and look through the new ones. I don't go to specific forum sections. I personally like the "time out" posts as well, but I think the current option for "education only" posts is good too for those people that would rather not bother with those. If I get logged in/out unexpectedly, I go to "view posts-your posts" at the top so I can at least see if there's anything new in what I've posted in.
