We are really pushing Close Reading with our 7th graders. I can see they are totally getting burned out with doing this day in and day out. Anyone who is doing close reading, what do you do to keep your kids engaged and wanting to work? We have Spring break week after next and I think this is part of my problem.

Can you tell me your structure/routine for for close reading? I have heard so many different definitions. I'm not sure if I'm doing it right.

Are you working with literature? Take a look at Notice and Note. It's something you should do in small bites, not over the course of a whole novel.
