I am a kinder teacher and I am looking for any cute ideas all of you creative teachers might have to go along with my class theme. I made my own superheros which I am calling "Super Learners" in my classroom. This is what they look like... I also made my rreading area backdrop- I am going to add black border, a rug and some pillows and bean bag chairs to it. I need suggestions for other fun and creative things to go along with this. I have a welcome sign with the red and blue superhero that says Welcome Super Learners and surrounding the superhero are lightening bolts with kids names. This is on a magnetic cabinet so I plan to use it for attendance/lunch count. My world wall is done with black butcher paper, with silver sparkle border. Each letter for the word wall has a letter written on an orange star diecut thats laminated. I put up the ABC man (orange and teal) up with it and used silver sparkle letters to write word wall. I am going to post additional pictures sometime today. I need suggestions for my job board, a cute slogan to display the kids work on the back wall. So far I have "Its a bird, its a plan, its SUPER WORK!" On the bulletin board you can kind of see by the reading center I want to do something that tracks at home reading. So I need a cute caption that pertains to reading... Anything else you can think of would be great!
I LOVE this! Job Board - "This looks like a job for..." (from Superman) Reading Goals - "Our reading goals are up, up, and away!" (from Superman) Those are the only ones I've come up with. I am doing a superhero themed birthday party for my son in a couple of weeks. If you made the superkids on the computer, would you be willing to email me the template?
Old school Batman If you watched the old school Batman where they would do the "CRASH!" "POW!" sound effects words in bright colors. Could use other words to label the classroom but still use the that comic book style. Love the superhero theme though!
You so need to get yourself one of the Tshirts at cafepress for the first day of school that says... teacher by day, superhero by night.
Template Those are awesome superheroes! I'd love to use your template, if you wouldn't mind. Another forum I saw suggested giving 6 or 7 behaviors and turn them into "super traits" --- as they master those traits, they get a sticker or stamp, Great for the beginning of school.
This is probably too advanced for Kindergarten but I pictured a job board saying "With great power comes great responsibility!" heh I amuse myself. I love Spiderman.
I teach fourth grade and I'm doing a superhero theme. I love your backdrop for your reading area. I would love to recreate it. How did you do it. Also how did you make your super kids? Did you draw them or find pictures on the web. I found a banner in the Dollar Tree that says "Super Students" had has pictures of superheroes. They also had a matching border. I bought it last year so I'm not sure if they still have it. Put I am using that to display my students work. On the first day of school I took coloring pages and cropped out the heads. I am going to have the students color them and then I will take pictures of them and they can glue on their faces. I figured I could place them on the students desk for open house. Since my students are older I am going to have them also write their superhero abilities (their strengths) and their superhero weaknesses. I was thinking near their mailboxes I could put the scene setter add on (from party city item #181383, $4.99) and write "Spidy-Mail". Hope this helps...
how to Cute! I bought a template online to make my superheros and then recreated the imagine using edition tools in photoshop. I then used a projector to trace and inlarge them. My backdrop was really easy. I cut 1 strip of butcher paper and posted it horizontally as to how high I wanted the back drop. Then I took the black butcher paper and posted stips vertically. Some of the black paper I cut in half and posted that way so that not all of the buildings had the same width. Once I got those up I just cut contruction paper for the windows and glued them on. I had bought silver sprakle letters and used the extra blank sheet to diecut a few stars and then I was done. Since the picture I added a border to mine. As you can see her my edges weren't too pretty on the bottom. By additing the border it covered up my mess after I trimed it down. Send me a message and I'll be happy to share!
Thank you do much. I am going to try and recreate your city scape, I think yours looks much better than the one in party city. Do you have a copy of the template you used for the superheroes? I really like them. Also, I found this website lastnight that has some cute things for for download on teacher clubhouse. They have other themes as well.
It's a bird, it's a plane, it's Ms._______'s class! oriental trading has some cute superhero rubber duckies that would be really cute to go in a water table. http://plumpearapple.com/2008/08/01/miss-ws-first-grade-class/ such a cute idea! http://www.flickr.com/photos/24844557@N00/2920114481 fly away with a good book You could take a picture of each student wearing a cap and then using photoshop put them in a superhero theme background?
love your theme and the room looks great. Do you think you could have the children give a name for their superhero and state a magic power they would like to have?.
I love this idea!! I would love to use it in my classroom. Would you be able to email me the superhero template? Thanks!

There is a program called Super Flex for kids with asperger's/autism that you should look at. It has comics and lots of ideas for rules and whatnot. I have used it with my whole class, especially when I have kids on the spectrum in my group.
Hi there! I love everything about this. I would like to pay you to use the file. Would you be interested in putting it on teacherspayteachers or paypal?? Thanks!!
I like this idea. We are doing a superhero theme as our AR Theme. Where did you get the kids cutouts?
Superhero Templates Would you mind e-mailing me the template for your superheros? I am planning to incorporate the superhero theme into everything I am doing in my classroom this year. How did your female students respond to the superhero theme?
Please! Anyone if you have found the superhero template please please please list it! I love it and can not find it anywhere!
Hi there. I am not sure why I can't send a message, but I am doing a SuperHero theme these year and want to use your superhero templates. Would you be willing to share? or show me how to create them?
Hello there! I absolutely love your super heros!! Would you be willing to share the templates with another teacher looking for superheroes? They're fab! Any other superhero ideas? Superheros is becoming a bit of a theme at our school. We have Captain Motivation, Captain Teamship, Captain Resiliance...sense of humour, risk-taker etc. There are awards for the children each week based on these superheros and they are awarded from our very own school super hero! (one of the teachers dressed up as a superhero - the children love it!)
I found some on stockphotography but they have a watermark over them. http://www.istockphoto.com/stock-illustration-7186404-colour-it-in-super-boy-template.php Not exactly what the OP has but still cute.
HI! Your superhero kids are SUPER cute! I was wondering if you would mind sharing where you found your template?
I am doing superheroes this year too thanks to this wonderful idea! I am going to name my table groups super shapes...Super Cubes, Ultra Cylinders, Mega Pyramids, Mighty Spheres, Wonder Cones, and Captain Rectangular Prisms. Also on the teachers pay teachers website there is a gal who has superhero name plates, etc. for sale. Also she has CAFE and Daily 5 headers.
WOW!! These are amazing! Ive looked everywhere on the internet for the superhero's but have had no luck finding them. Please would you mind sending me the link?
The OP hasn't been back since September 2010. Seems like it would be easy enough to blow up and copy from her photo?
