Thanks for posting the info on the writing process timeline, teacherece. mrsnoble: How do you plan on doing your Homeworkopoly board? Will the kids get to play the game every day?
I just got a CD called "Hip Hop Alphabop", not quite sure by who (maybe greg and steve or jack hartman???) Anyway, it teaches Alphabet and phonics skills.
we are semi-departmentalized so I planned on using it when every kid had homework in that class. They would all get the reward. I had a hard time coming up with rewards suitable for a whole class, but I think it'll be fun.
Workshop Way is something I learned from a friend of mine who teaches at my school. When a student finishes an assignment, they will go to the board and complete task one and then work there way through the list of activities. There are twenty of them all together. This will keep students from saying they have no thing to do or them trying to sit and do nothing. The crates on the table hold all the stuff they need to complete the tasks on the board.[/QUOTE] What types of activities are there? That sounds like a great idea.
Hello all, I saw so many great pictures on here I have a few to share myself. Unfortunately, I can't share but a few because I have a terrible leak in room that has taken over a third of it and is now filled with grey trashcans and buckets. I'm sure it'll be fixed by Monday. I'll share some more pics later The pictures are under "Our Classroom" on my webpage for my class The math wall is still missing some items that I ordered. http://rivera30067.tripod.com/id12.html
Does anyone teach Montessori? I am teaching 4th-6th grade montessori this year and would love to see pictures of montessori classrooms.

It's where the students would pick a classmate, friend, or family member and do something nice for them. Maybe they'd make a card, write a nice letter or create a coupon to do something for them.
I'm not sure which one are you talking about? The one that has the days of the week listed on it? I got that at Walmart.
Munchkin: Were you talking to me about the Apprentice Organizer? I have it on my desk. If so, I bought it at Staples for around $30.
I could not tell you...srry...the monkey was in there when i came in and he just found his place right there but you could find one somewhere i would think!!!
The Apprentice Organizer looks so much larger online, but it fits perfectly on your desk. I think I will look into purchasing one -- one of my goals is to keep my desk organized and neat (no more piles) and your desk looks perfect. I bought a desk calendar as an incentive to keep my desk clean but it hasn't worked yet . Apprentice Organizers, here I come!
TXTCHER29, Can you please tell me where you got that fabulous palm tree w/monkeys, bananas and coconuts?! thanks....
The Apprentice Organizer will hold hanging files, so figure that it's as large as a crate that you may use to hang files in. The nice thing is that it has a rotating base, so you can spin it around if you need to get to something on the other side. Plus, it has all the little side compartments that you can put paper, books, pencils etc. in.
I got the tree at a teacher supply store (its by Carson Dellosa). The coconut and banana patterns come with the tree and I shrunk the patterns and copied them onto brown or yellow paper. I got the monkeys at a teacher store ( I think those are Carson Dellosa as well.) I die-cut the letters from fun foam using our school die-cuts. I took all the students pictures by the tree on the first day of school, they look so cute!
Wow! I love each and every one of your wonderful classrooms. Such organization, color, and creativity. It's been so much fun looking at your rooms. I've gotten several tips and ideas by looking at your pictures. I just finished my classroom today. I will go back tomorrow and take pictures with my digital camera and post them here ASAP. =) I can't wait to see more!
Yeah, Nichole, the one on your desk. Thanks. I didn't see it at our Staples, but then again, it was really hard to look with school starting in 2 days and the crowds were ridiculous. Thanks for sharing your wonderful classroom. munchkin
asumountianeer: About the monkeys???? You may want to check out Party City, they tend to have the Jungle theme. We have a place called If Its Paper, its good for that stuff too. Any party theme store usually carries that stuff Hope that helps.
Thanks and Here's my room. Hello Everyone! I want to say thank you to everyone that has shared pictures of their classroom so far. Keep them coming. I also want to share pictures of my room and get any feedback you might have. My students don't come until Sept 5th but I wanted to get most of it done now so I can focus on paperwork and lesson during in-service and preplanning days. There is still stuff left to do but you'll get the idea. You should be able to click the link and then click on the yellow slideshow button. http://www.kodakgallery.com/ShareLa...post_signin=Slideshow.jsp?mode=fromshare&Ux=0 Christopher
I like the way you have those stars dangling from the ceiling! What a cute touch. That sort of would go with the feeling I want to create in my room: "Everybody Is A Star" sort of thing. Great room. What grade do you teach??
I love everyones classrooms so far. It looks like I'm going to substituting again this year, but thanks to looking into your classrooms I now have more ideas for my dream classroom. Keep the pictures coming! Thanks.
I forgot to take a picture of the display outside my door...that says "Reach for the stars" so that's why I have the stars hanging from the ceiling right now. I hang up other projects we make throughout the year. I teach second grade.
Let's try this again! If you view my pics, let me know if it works. Sorry the photos are so large. My classroom: http://www.angelfire.com/planet/misscolvin/classroom.html
are you talking about the alphabet on the bulletin board? That is my word wall....I found a cute note pad and wrote the letters on each sheet and laminated them....cheap but takes a while to cut out all of those jokers from the laminating paper!
Yes-those! That's so cute! I'm doing a frog theme this year. I used a frog note pad for the student names on the door and also for my behavior management wall.
Classroom photos 06-07 I sent my photos from last year earlier, but now I have pics from this year's classroom. I have made a few changes. Today was the first day and all went well. http://www.kodakgallery.com/ShareLa...post_signin=Slideshow.jsp?mode=fromshare&Ux=0
Great photos Gopher4....I have to wait until next week, the 24th, to get into my room and I'm a first time teacher. I've recruited the hubby and my 2 kids. I'm worried that I won't have enough time to do everything I want before school starts.
Gopher - I'm curious, what do you do with your emotions board? I have those same expressions on a magnet set on my fridge!!! Nice room! I like the numbers hanging from the ceiling! That would definitely help a sub when dismissing groups!!!
The Feelings and Emotions word cards are new for me this year. I borrowed the idea from another teacher. We will use it to categorize words that mean the same thing as or are related to the ones posted. To expand our vocabulary. Most of the words will come from characters in the stories we read. For example: Sick - ill, infermo, under the weather, green, puny, queasy, etc.
