Actually, I found some clipart that I liked and used my LCD to project it onto paper. I traced a quick outline of it and then set to work painting it. Painting is the hardest part because you cover up your pencil marks. So the details, get difficult but I was pretty happy with the way it turned out.
Another teacher on my team just loves giraffes! I think she's going to steal him.
I better put a surveillance camera on him just to keep him safe. lolKatie

k.contreras, I love your room, thanks for sharing! What goes in the four little trashcans on top of the kids' coat room area? Or I guess they're trash cans. I bought the same ones from the Dollar Tree, but I don't exactly know what to do with them. Are you using yours as trashcans?
I wonder, is that picture of the person with the clip board suppose to be you?
Also do you have the children's names all on those bananas? That is very cute. Giraffes are my favorite animal, I'm not sure why they have been since I was little. Maybe because they are tall and I am kind of short, hard to know.

I was originally going to have a piece of paper attached to the clipboard with all the kids names on it. Sort of like Santa's list or something. But I did decide to write their names on the bananas instead.I love giraffes too! They are just so cute!!

I bought one trash can for each group to put all their colors, glue and scissors in there so they can use. When they are using them most of their materials will be out while they are coloring or cutting and then they can throw any trash they have in their and the leader will throw it in the big trash can once the activity is over. It is so I don't have a lot of kids getting up to go to the trash can. I wanted colorful caddies to have for each group but this is the only thing that came close to it.

All I can think is that it has something to do with your Internet settings. Do you have this type of problem with any other webpages? What exactly shows up? I would go up to Tools on your web browser and click on Internet Options. Click on the security (make sure this is at Medium, because I know you can't view my website unless it is at least there), privacy and advanced option buttons and check to make sure that nothing stands out to you. Good luck.

Thank you!!! I found the carpet at Sam's Club....my Aunt got it for me for graduation...it comes in a pack of 8 and is like 18 bucks a pack. But the best part is that it is not a carpet, it is a mat and is supposed to be washable so hopefully I can keep it really clean.
yes they were very excited about entering...they were excited all day, so much that i had a hard time keeping them quiet!!! That is something that we will be working on this coming up week!

You know what Katie, I don't have this problem with viewing any other classroom pictures or websites. That's why I am so surprised that I've tried to view yours 3 or 4 times and still cannot see the links on the page. Whats happening is that I see the design of the webpage like the picture of the school, your weather link, and other things, but it will now allow your links to show up that are going down the page. Its like I see empty boxes with a small red X in the corner of them. I hope this makes sense. I bought those and then I saw these frog pencils with frog toppers at a school supply store(my room is decorated in frogs) and I added a book mark. The kids loved it!

One more question 1st yr........where did you get those colorful square things for your children to sit on in group???? I adore your classroom especially since this is your first year and you set up such a nice arrangement. I don't have a classroom yet, but I anticipate getting a job offer in a couple of days.(keep your fingers crossed for me).

Well, I went to my 3rd interview with the school on Friday and I was told that I will hear something either Monday, or on Wednesday when the human resource rep. gets back into town. My mother wants me to just believe that I have it (she's very religious and believes that you should have faith that you will get what you want) but I'll still be waiting by the phone. So anyways, If I get the job, I'll have a classroom in a couple of weeks!!!!!krwaggieteach

Katenar, I was having the same exact problem as youngteacher226, in that I could never see the links on your website's homepage, just red x's. When I go to the page you linked above, I still see red x's, but when I click on each, I can finally see the pictures! Yay!!! Your room looks great! I'm jealous of all your cabinet space! Thanks!
