I have pictures of my classroom posted here: http://www.leapinginto5thgrade.com/tour.htm I have been working on my classroom for the last two weeks. I still have more things to do though most of it is organizational things. Enjoy!
Wow! Looks great and love all the organization you have going on. I'm always so jealous when I see people who have uncluttered rooms. Our room just has stuff spilling out of it but we use all the stuff so I can't even eliminate any of it .
Thank you. I have been using Debbie Diller's book Spaces and Places last year and this year to help design my classroom.
I'm jealous of a lot of things in your classroom! I wish I had carpet. I wish I had lockers! I wish I had a Prometheon board!
Yes, I am very lucky to have what I have in my classroom. I don't take any of it for granted because I could always be made to switch grades at the end of any school year, then I wouldn't have a Promethean Board anymore.
I have the ActivBoard, the ActivSlate, ActivExpressions, and ActiView. I was lucky to get all of this. I was able to get the board, slate, and expressions in the Spring of 2009 through a special promotion through the company. In the Fall the school corporation got the handful of teachers with Promethean Boards the ActiView and Duel User Pens. The teachers getting the boards this fall aren't getting all of this due to budget issues. I know in our building that the third and fourth grade teachers have to share the voters.
Your room is amazing! You are so organized! I LOVE your behavior management plan. Do you have a copy of the behavior form that is in the penalty book?
Yes I do. http://www.leapinginto5thgrade.com/behaviorplan2010.htm Scroll to the bottom. I also have a form for the students to put in their data binders. Our district requires the students to keep data binders.
You would be surprise. My room looks big but in reality once the kids come we are very close!! I started the year last year with 28 students and I didn't think we would all fit!
Your room looks great and I would LOVE to pick your brain about reading workshop. I am going to sit down next week and start working and want to start reading workshop this year. It is ok to PM you if I have questions (of which I have a lot!)
Can you tell us what the penalty sheet in the binder says? I've always wanted something like that but I don't know what it should say.
I have a copy that you can dowload at http://www.leapinginto5thgrade.com/behaviorplan2010.htm Scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see little frogs with labels. Click on the frog and it will open into a PDF. The first one is for the student's data binders and the second one is the form I am going to use in my Penalty Book. I hope this helps. I would attach it here but I don't have that right yet.
Also, what host do you have for your website? I don't know if that even makes sense because I have no idea about making a website but I would like to start it this year also.
I have created my website using Microsoft Expressions. I am currently hosted through yahoo. I pay about $12 a month for a Yahoo Business Account. I wish I could go through my school but they haven't given us that option yet.
Absolutely love your room AND your site!! I very much like your Homework and Discipline Policies...well done!! Am wondering where you got your little football magnets...way cute! Thank you for showing up your room and for so generously sharing all that you have created!!
I actually found a package of tiny sports cutouts at the teacher store. I hot glued magnets to the pack. I can't remember what company name for the tiny sports cutouts was called, but it has soccer, football, baseball, cheerleading, hockey, and basketball represented in the package. I will see if I can find the name on the package at school on Monday.
I LOVE your turn in system!!! I may move my turn in bin right near the door, that way its done early!!! LOVE IT!
This is the first year that I am using a turn in system using a tub. I have always had turn in trays, but they became so messy and all the assignments would get mixed together. I am hoping by using folders I will be able to keep all the paperwork organized. We'll see!
