Hi I was wondering if any of you had any classroom pictures of first or second grade!! I am looking for some ideas for my classroom. Also, do any of you have any room theme ideas for these age groups? Thanks!

I teach 3rd grade and my room is decorated in polka dots. I wanted to get away from the traditional frogs, bees, etc.
I wanted to do a castle theme but I couldn't find enough decor to help me to accomplish this, without having to make most of it myself.

    Other ideas:
    Western/Cowboy
    Under the Sea
    Rainforest
    Hawaii
    Beach
    Flower Power
    Dr. Seuss

Think about things that you like and your own interests. What do you enjoy? I think, as teachers, we have to enjoy our own classrooms. I LOVE polka dots and fairy tales (prince & princesses) so naturally those were my first 2 ideas.
    Good luck! :)

I work at a teacher supply store part-time, and the most popular themes I see companies make things for are currently:

    -Owls
    -Frogs
    -Monkeys
-Movie theater/Hollywood (a lot of popcorn decor)
    -Stars

You could easily find materials for these themes (accents, borders, nameplates, etc.).

I teach second grade and have an 'Under the Sea' theme. On my door at the beginning of the year, I had some cool premade blue letters and put "Catch a Wave into 2nd Grade" and put my new students names on little surfboards that I created. (Trust me, I'm really not that creative.) My theme isn't that evident in my room anymore since I've moved some things around and changed my bulletin board, but I've labeled the library as 'Reading Reef' and have some underwater decor there, including a big hook I made out of a paper towel tube and some aluminum foil and the saying "Get hooked on a book!"

My friend did an underwater theme and also hung clear and matte silver ornaments from the ceiling to look like bubbles. It was darling.
