What kind of music do you play in your classroom? Whether it be in the morning as students arrive, during work time, or any other time you may use music....
If it rains we have to do "recess" in the classroom. There's this really fun CD called Kids in Motion by Greg and Steve. They LOVE it.
I use a lot of classical music in my room.....I've burned different cds....some fast/some slow....to play at different times!
I use Dr. Jean cd's a lot. I also have a few other "kids" cd's that we play during indoor recess like someone else suggested. I always play at least one song during morning meeting/calendar time every day. This year I am hoping to transfer all my "cd's" to mp3 format and put them on my ipod. That way I can just click right to the song I need at the moment!
Greg and Steve, the soundtrack from Seussical (especially in March!), classical music geared to kids. If you have time, check out the Beethoven's Wig series. It's no good for background music, but a great and fun intro to the classics.
I usually play classical music, but I do have some CD of different cultures. There is a series called something like "Latin playground music" etc. I dont exactly remember the name of the cd. My kids always love listening and choosing what they want to hear.
Mozart and Bach are my favorites, but I also play light jazz and Dr. Jean. At Christmas-time, I have several instrumental as well as kid-oriented (Rosie O'Donnell for one) that I like to play.
