What are the best classroom models for beginning teachers?

Hi, I am new too!! Fall will be my first school year teaching. I will be using Assertive Discipline in my classroom. Are you familiar with that? If not I can give you some of my notes from college!
Cooperative Discipline by Linda Albert
Positive Discipline by Jane Nelson
(Both ideas work together....based on same principles)
Positive Discipline in the Classroom by Jane Nelson, Lynn Lott, H. Stephen Glenn
The First Days of School by Harry K. and Rosemary T. Wong.
Awesome books that will give you much more than just info about discipline! They help you have a PLAN to anticipate and deal with almost anything you can think of! I couldn't put either of them down while reading them! Think POSITIVE!!!!

I also recommend Harry Wong's book. It is great.
Another good one is, Teaching with Love and Logic.
The important thing is to have a plan in place to introduce to the kids the very first day. Practice, practice, practice those procedures the first few weeks. The more time you spend on training the kids in the first few weeks, the less time you'll have to deal with problems throughout the year!

Teaching with Love and Logic is an EXCELLENT resource. If you ever get the chance to go to a Love and Logic Seminar DO IT!
I used Love and Logic parenting with my kids, it works for strong willed kids too! You will not engage in power struggles with your kids/students.
I also agree that the Harry Wong book is another great resource.
