I am a first year teacher and classroom management has been a problem this year. I am a high school drama teacher.

Does anyone have any suggestions for books that are great for high school?

"Building Classroom Discipline" by CM Charles is a good start for learning more about the different systems out there because it dedicates a chapter to each of the many different systems out there, so it's a good book to read to find out what fits you before investing in one book for an entire system. Good luck!

Alfie Kohn has some great books on discipline, however he's considered a radical and may be a bit extreme with his techniques. Nevertheless, I found them fascinating.

Drama can be tough, but it's a different animal. All the books above will work, but be aware that what works in a math or English class may not work in a drama classroom, just because of the nature of the curriculum.
