What a relief! I'm just waiting to get the materials that I need from the library (listening center stuff, headphones for the computer, etc.). I hope this works-it's my first time sharing with Flickr... http://www.flickr.com/photos/37507742@N03/sets/72157622030294082/
Congratulations! I know I am so happy that I finished my room too. Your room is gorgeous! It is so colorful and well thought out. You can tell when people take the time to do a good job.:thumb:
Very inviting and colorful! I love your room! It is very organized and colorful. I love the door and how inviting it is. It makes a great first impression of your room. I also like the SmartBoard lunch option activity. It is very creative. I use my SmartBoard for Morning Blitz (journal, analogies, idioms, creative writing), but then again I teach fifth grade. Have a great and productive year!
Cheerful, colorful and bright! Love it! I have a song for today is, yesterday was, tomorrow will be..., if you want, let me know!!
Your room looks GREAT!! I have those same white plastic baskets - I use mine for my library. I love your small author of the month bulletin board - what kinds of activities do you do with your author of the month?
Great room! I love your room! It is so neat and organized! The smartboard is great too! I wish I had one! I can't get in my room yet...still being cleaned
I'm not really sure yet, to tell you the truth. It's my first time doing it. I'm going to try to read 2-5 books per week by the author and maybe start some sort of list about commonalities amongst the books, and we can add to the list throughout the month (that's why there is a big space in the middle of the board). I also plan on learning about Eric Carle's personal life, and maybe looking for some videos of him.
Beautiful! Things I LOVE: how neat and organized your library is the shoe tying poster the smartboard (i wish!) your rug your bins for each day's lessons (i have to do something like this...folders just don't hold everything I need them to)
I absolutely love the lunch count on the smart board... I was thinking about doing something similar because I don't have much room to set something up for my kids to make their lunch choices. How did you make yours?
Good job on your room and thanks for sharing! Question #1: Do you use the whiteboard in front of your rug when you do mini-lessons or do you pull out an easel? I'm going to place my rug in front of my whiteboard too, so that I hopefully won't have to buy an easel...unless you tell me a reason why you still have an easel! Question #2: In your Monday bin (for example), what exactly do you put in it? Lesson plan papers? Materials you'll pass out? Can you give me an example? And also, do you have all materials for the subjects in different ziploc bags so they don't get mixed up in the bin?
To the tune of 'Frere Jacques': Today is Friday, today is Friday All day long, all day long. Yesterday was Thursday Tomorrow will be Saturday, Oh, what fun, oh what fun!
You inspired me to do baskets for my classroom library. I am going to try and be more organized this year. Once I can get into my classroom next week, I am going to do some changes.
Answer #1-I still use an easel, but that's because I don't really have a lot of whiteboard space up front and everything is centered around the Smartboard. Sometimes it's easier just to pull the easel out than to turn the Smarboard on and wait for it to load. I think an easel is nice for shared writing activities. Answer #2-I put anything I can fit in the bins: lesson plan papers, handouts, materials, etc. I usually put them in order, so whatever I need next is right on top of the bin. I keep things together with rubber bands, paper clips, or I put small materials in those little baskets (like I have on my tables).
That makes sense... I had to leave my easel behind at my former school since I bought it with PTA $. But it sounds like it would be smart to get another one for this year since I do shared writing AND will be getting a smartboard, too. I am going to try the Mon-Fri bins this year. Putting things in order is wise. That beats looking thru stacks of handouts from a heterogenous pile on my desk! Thanks for responding and have a great year.
Love the room, so bright and colorful. I enjoy classrooms like this! I try to bring color into my high school room too!
Great room! I just switched to bins this year too! I have used a daily folder for years. It just seems there are so many things I need to have my hands on. Czacza - love the song, I will try it too! Thanks for sharing.
I love your room! I teach third grade but I am going to be "borrowing" a few ideas from you! I love the border around the door - so inviting! I also really enjoy the bulletin board for the author of the month. I am not sure if I will have the wall space for that this year but I love the idea! I will have to see if I can figure something out! Thanks for sharing the great pictures and congrats on being done with set-up!
Some people in another thread were talking about using a tri-fold for their author of the month board, so you might want to try that if you don't have the space.
