Hi, I was wondering if any of you have class pledges that your children recite each morning? At my old school we weren't allowed to do such a thing so I am now thinking about having one. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
we have a school pledge. My class says it after the flag pledge.... we are proud independent smart and strong we take responsibility for our actions and therefore act in a responsible way we are courteous and considerate and treat others how we would want to be treated we strive to learn from each other and help each other learn we always give our best to our community, our families, our peers and ourselves we are proud to be the somerset academy school colts.
We have two: I pledge to lead a drug free life, I want to be healthy and happy. I will say no to harmful drugs, I'll help my friends say no. I pledge to stand up for what I know is right. & With the cooperation of family, staff and students of _______________. Our students have the opportunity to learn and reach their highest potential. eta: We say the Pledge of Allegiance first.
We always say both the Pledge of Allegience and the school mission statement. One of my class jobs is Pledge Leader and the student says "Salute" (students who say the pledge put their hand over their heart, those that don't say the pledge - two this past year for religious reasons - simply stand at attention) and then "Pledge" and they begin the Pledge of Allegience then go right on to the mission statement. This was the first year that I had students who didn't say the pledge but the parents told me on the first day to make both children stand silently during the pledge. They said that even though it isn't thier own personal belief, they want their children to learn to respect other people's beliefs.
I never thought of a class pledge, but I think that's a great idea. Sorry I can't help, but than again thanks for the idea. I like mommaruthie's school pledge.
the pledge is my class rules, every little thing falls into one of the affirmations. If you are disruptive, you are not being courteous to your peers. If you are off task, you are not giving me your best...
We say the Pledge of Allegiance and then our school pledge. Here's our school pledge: I am proud to be a student at _______________ Elementary School. I am here to learn. I will listen to my teachers. I will talk nicely to my teachers and other students. I will walk quietly at school. I will show respect for myself, my school, and others.
We recite the Lerner's Creed on this web page at Can Teach http://www.canteach.ca/elementary/classman6.html
