At my school, parents of the students in the class pool money together to give the teacher an end of the year gift. This year, I got a gift card for $300. I'm racking my brain trying to find something "good" to get myself that will last. I don't want to just blow the money on something stupid, as I normally end up doing! lol

Any ideas or thoughts on what you've treated yourselves to?

Since you asked this time of year, if I suddenly received a surprise $300, it would no doubt go to my kids' back to school clothes. But I don't think that's what you had in mind!

I would get my own back to school clothes - lol!

Honestly I would probably use it to buy a new laptop since mine needs replacing. I would also consider taking a weekend trip or replacing something in the house.

I would get a new director's chair for my classroom, a new laptop case/tote bag, and put the rest on my Starbucks giftcard to treat myself all during the year!

I would use it for a haircut, mani/pedi, and back to school clothes. At least shoes.

I have quite a few gift cards this year that total near $500.

I often use gift cards to buy something special by which I can remember my class. In the past I've bought a garden bench, chandelier, jewelry...

Yes, I've thought about this too... brings up something I think about.

With Starbucks and the like, it is what it is... spending wise. When you get a card from a certain place, and it is larger than $10-20, should you sort of take it upon yourself to buy something like that (i.e. you can remember how you got the item)? I ask particularly because I got a gift card to Nordstrom... Nordstrom stuff is expensive. But normally, I'm a value shopper. I don't buy $100 shirts. And my normal operating procedure would be to stretch my money as much as I can. But should I just buy a one item... particularly something I'd never normally buy... as a way to remember?

    Or groceries.

I'd probably spend it on a new outfit, jewelry & shoes included. Then maybe the rest on books or yarn.

I had two gift cards from a local gift shop. I went and was going to get my sports stuff. I am a huge fan of NFL and stuff but then I saw some jewelry. I bought a charm bracelet and some charms. I can add charms as I go.
