Dear friends, I am living in NM. I am relocating to california starting from this May'09. I want to take CLAD course classes. I searched all the universities websites but I didn't find any link. Do anyone know who is offering such course? Thank you for reading.
Check the Commision on teacher credentialing. The universities now incorporate CLAD into their credentialing program, so newer students have it built into their credential.By the way, Ca is economically a disaster right now. Jobs are few and far between, unless you teach math or science.
American, I'm assuming you have a license in New Mexico. If your teacher-training program included something like diversity training and training in teaching English language learners, you might see if California would accept that. If that doesn't work, you could take the CTEL exam (see http://www.ctel.nesinc.com).
Thank you for your responses. Yes, I am currently teaching 7-12 math and fully certified to teach in NM.But I didn't take any diversity training courses and I am sure I can not pass CTEL unless I take courses.I passed CBEST and 3 subtests of math.If I pass CLAD I will get fully certified in CA. I understand the economy situation. I'll try in CA cause getting a job in NM is not a problem to me. Thanks again to TeacherGroupie and TamiJ.
American, let me urge you - if you haven't already done so - to have your transcript reviewed by someone familiar with California's requirements before you commit on taking further coursework. More people than you might think pass CTEL without taking courses.
Thank you so much dude. I will do that. I am visiting for Pasadena job fare on 03/07/09. I will ask the respective person to do that at the job fare. Thanks again for a valuable advice.
