We are really trying to teach thematically and I am stumped for a science idea linking to this story!

    Any ideas?

Cinderella had mice friends, you could do something with that. Or perhaps, do a magic potion (like the fairy godmother).

or the growth cycle of a pumpkin? Sorting and classifying beads (like the beads the mice sewed onto the dress)?

I will go a little different way and say you could work on measurement and observation. Talk how they found out whoes slipper it was and how it only fit Cinderella.

What about speed and distance? She had to move pretty fast to get home before the clock stopped tolling. You could talk about how fast or slow different modes of transportation go.

You could cook something with canned pumpkin- talk about solids, liquids, use measurement

I've also read of teachers putting a pumpkin in a big plastic sealed jar and observing it as it rots...

if you aren't going with pumpkins, I have had great success with the measurement/shoe size lesson in conjunction with the Cinderella theme.

I have also done lesson offshoots based on horses and Castles from this theme. But that was for a summer group when we had more free time.

Or animal classifications-- there are mice and a cat and horses-- or she had to do alot of cleaning --how about some science experiments on dirt? Mix different types of dirt with water to see what happens? Let them make mud and cover the table with it--and have to wash it off-- or put different types of dirt on different trays or tables and let them mix water with it to wash off-- what comes off easier etc
