I don't find it necessarily offensive, just sad and irritating.

TeacherShelly always posts wonderful things that make me think about gender. She made me more aware of how ridiculous we can be about gender role and identify, especially with children. I make an effort in my classroom to not teach that girls like pink and princesses and boys like mud. And it's worked! I have boys reading pink books with glitter on the cover because they now consider the plot! Girls are reading "boy books". It's awesome!

BUT...

Worrying about saying ladies and gentlemen? I guess that's where I draw the line. The gender fluid person mentioned must realize that s/he (I mean, really...what do I use there? It? Surely not, as I assume this person identifies with one sex but both genders, but...come on) that no offense is intended. If that person is offended, what a rough life he or she will experience.
