What do you give your students as gifts? I usually make up a little treat bag, or buy the plastic holiday (reusable) cups at walmart and fill with goodies. I typically order personalized pencils but I didn't do that this year. I usually make a gift certificate for a free book from a book order, too, and then just order with my bonus points. My original thought was to buy 2-3 new classroom games instead for rainy days when we have to stay in the classroom (as most of my games are starting to show some serious wear and tear) but now I am second guessing myself. Maybe the kids won't like that??

Soooooo, I am wondering what everyone else gets their students that won't break the bank!

Scholaastic has a coupon where you can give the kids a choice of a $4 book and they charge you $2.

    I'm giving my kiddos books.

I give a treat bag, pencils and erasers. Hoping they will take the hint that they need to bring pencils to class.

I purchase holiday mugs from my church's rummage sale. (total cost for all mugs is about $1) To each mug I add two packets of hot chocolate mix, 2 candy canes, a snack size bag filled with mini marshmallows and a poem I wrote about coming in from a cold winter day and warming up with a cup of hot chocolate and a good book. I place the mug in a cellophane bag. I add the cellophane bag, along with two books to a holiday paper bag. I make special holiday tags to add to the bags with each child's name. I made them all last night.

I love the hot chocolate idea! Can you post the poem?

I also give books from Scholastic. Usually I get some other trinkets from the Dollar Store too. :)

Personally, I really like the game idea. Students are always excited for treat bags, but they are quickly forgotten.

Same here. Target and Walmart also have some fun, cheap holiday trinkets.

I like the idea of picking a book from the book order. Maybe I will do that next year, since I already ordered them all a copy of Olive, the Other Reindeer.

When I student taught, my cooperating teacher bought the class games. They were 5-minute versions of popular games. Perfect for indoor recess!

I order each student personalized pencils from forteachersonly.com They LOVE seeing their name on the pencils! Each kid gets 3 pencils in a vinyl pouch. Pretty cheap too!
