I am going to have my students put their handprint on a plastic Christmas ornament for a gift to give to their parents. What type of paint I should use ? Thank you, Heather
I use the regular tempra paint we normally use at school. We made "marble" ornaments by pouring a little acrylic paint inside and shaking. They turned out cute too.
I wouldn't use anything toxic or nonwashable with little kids, especially on their skin. Can you use tempera and then spray or coat it with something else to make it more permanent?
I used red and green glitter acrylic paint. Don't use a lot just enough to cover the sides of the ornament (otherwise it won't dry and will leak!). I let the kids pick either red, green or both. Then I wrote their names and the year in glitter glue on the outside!
Heather the parents will love anything with a handprint. I had my students make something for Mother's day & a couple mom's said thank you for not doing a flower & I can keep this when they get older!!!
