I wanted to start a thread of ideas for different people. I was thinking if you have a good gift idea for a certain group/type post it here. Even better if it is a deal/bargain :2up:

A few categories to get us started (feel free to post for anything you find):
    teachers on your grade/team
    teens
    small children
    crafters
    people who like to cook

For my assistants and grade level partner, I bought jar candles.
Teens love $$$ or gift cards with a shopping trip after Christmas.
Cooks-Flavored oils and vinegers or unusual utinsils.
Crafters-any tool of the trade or book about the craft. I scrapbook so I like to receive anything for that.
Small children-board books, playdough, dress up clothes.

I bought my mom and mother-in-law Vera Bradley wristlets, they are perfect for times when you don't want to carry a purse - room for your cell phone, money and cards and can be hooked to your belt loop or worn on your wrist, different styles are on sale $15-20 at VeraBradley.com

Team teachers - I bought cute picture frame ornaments last year after Christmas for my team (3 in a package) and I will take them out and repackage. They are fairly inexpensive even now since they are in packages of 3-4 and are really cheap after Christmas. They could be cute small gifts for families who normally just buy for the kids too

    - for my kids' elementary school teachers and aides and the reading teacher and the speech teacher I've gotten fleece throws ($7.50 at Walmart)

    - for Brian's middle school teachers I'm going to order a 12-pack of Petit Fors samplers from Hickory Farms for $32. It's not much, but he has something like 8 or 9 different teachers

    - for my mom and mother in law, both readers I've gotten a collection of "chick lit" novels from Barnes and Noble.com

    - for my daughters and nieces I've gotten Vera Bradley bags on sale at their website, each one down to $15

    - For my own kids, I've gotten each a cookbook for kids, and plan to order each a refurbished IPOD at the Apple Store. I'm waiting for Black Friday in the hopes that they'll go on sale.

I started looking around on VeraBradley.com when I saw your post yesterday  I knew my mom and MIL would love a wristlet, neither really likes to carry a purse when they are going somewhere where you walk around. Now, I have to find something else to go with it, I am thinking of putting a gift card in the credit card slot.

Alice, where do you buy the sampler sizes of petit fours? The hickory farms website has the $19 box, but I'm looking for small boxes like you mentioned...

Fortunately, I don't have to buy gifts for anyone except my parents & boyfriend.

But, here's some ideas for people in general:

    - DVD movie
    - gift cards (GCs) always
    - scarf & glove (& hat) set
    - jams & jellies
    - something someone collects
    - magazine subscription
    - jewelry
    - theatre/concert tickets (as in a performing arts event)
    - wallet
    - luxurious chocolates/candy
    - nice keychain
    - money clip (some men may still use it)
    - belt

Let me find the catalog upstairs among all the Halloween stuff...

OK, I lied. It was Swiss Colony; I always get those 2 confused.

    Here's the link:

They have other samplers too. Just type "sampler" into their search feature.

Hmmm, I never get gifts for my administrators, but if I did, I would probably give a decorative jar of candies for on their desk or a tray of homemade goodies.

For people at work, I make peppermint bark. It is soooo easy and everyone loves it.

I love to cook, so here are some things I would like:
cookbooks--especially by someone on the Food Network
I have these, and love them: electric ice cream maker, electric fondue pot
I would love to have: electric rice maker, wok, good fry pan

for kids: a flashlight, playdough, pizza making kit, cookbook

Themed gifts; I am buying everyone a hoodie this year.
    GS--one from his Taekwondo school
    GS--one from his college
GD--Hannah Montana (who she saw in concert)
DD1--a purple one, her favorite color
    DD2--To be determined
SIL--an orange one so he can be seen at work
    Mother--a soft fuzzy one
Hubby--a light weight jacket as he would not wear a hoodie.

My Vera Bradley stuff came in today and I think it is awesome. Anyone looking for a gift for a female should look around at the sale stuff. The wristlets are great for a wide range of people and are adorable. You can make them a bigger gift by putting a gift card in the credit card slot. I think I am going to ask for one myself ;)

I love these the wristlets! I bought one for myself and for a co-worker's birthday. I tuck mine into my school bag and leave my purse in the trunk or at home.
