I have everyone crossed off of my Christmas list except for my step mom. I have no idea what to get her. Here is her story:

-I think she's 44 (a lot younger than my dad)
-Their house is tiny and very decorated/crowded already
-I'm not sure how much longer they will be married. They keep going back and forth on staying together, and getting divorced. They both drink too much, which is their #1 problem.

So, I'm stuck. I would normally get them a gift card for a restaurant, but I already found something else for my dad (and they would probably just sit at the restaurant's bar, drink, and get into a fight-their typical pattern of behavior). I was just going to do a gift card for JC Penney's. Does anyone have any other more creative ideas?

    TIA!

My go to for my MIL is a gift card to her nail place, and hair salon.

How about something Vera Bradley? A tote maybe? A wristlet? They're having a nice Cyber Monday sale: http://www.verabradley.com/

Does she have a favorite perfume?

Does she read? How about either some books (I LOVED Bill O'Reilly's Killing Lincoln and Killing Kennedy) or even a Nook/ Kindle?)

Do they live in a cold area? Maybe a nice, cozy throw for the couch and a basket of assorted teas.

I think a gift certificate for a nail salon is nice. Even if she doesn't usually go, a nice pedicure or manicure is always good.

These are great ideas, thank you! She gets her nails done a lot, so I may go with that idea.

Well, I'm glad I didn't go out and buy anything...My dad just called and told me that he got his own apartment. :( I'm happy for him, because she hasn't been faithful in the past year or so, but I'm sad, because he had to leave his dog behind. She was his baby!

    Ah, your poor dad.

Is he nearby? It's a tough time of year to be suddenly alone.

He is about an hour away, but he lives about 5 minutes from my brother, so that's good.

Oh so sad about his dog. Any chance he can get her back?

I guess he can't have pets in his apartment. He did say that he's stopped by the house a few times, and they have been civil with one-another. So hopefully he can visit the dog once and a while. She's pretty old anyway (I think 15?).
