Their suffering must be insufferable right now. Ah well, let me enjoy this new bed set, new pillows, these Hallmark movies and nice cloudy quiet day! Oh no, we have a whole 11 days after Xmas to enjoy. What a sin!
I know certain parents who are probably pulling their hair out right about now. We are back today and kids come back tomorrow.
My SiL in another district doesn't return til Monday. Sigh. I'm back at school. Part of me would have loved 4 more days, but at the same time... in its way it's nice to come back to a 2-day week. Break us back in slowly and all that.
Nice cloudy rainy day, I'm just laying around enjoying my time. What I wouldn't give to be retired though.
We get a whole week off in February (plus 2 extra days without students) so I can look forward to that!
We only have one scheduled day off (Martin Luther King, Jr. Day) between January 6 and the first week of April (spring break). That is one LONG haul unless we get snow days to break it up. One year we missed ONE snow day. It was so, so long without a break, but it was fabulous when summer vacation started May 10. A nearby district started their summer vacation on April 28. Usually we miss at least 10 days. Some years over 20. We have already had two snow days and one flood day.
I go back on Monday for a work day and then a PD day on Tuesday. Students start on Wednesday, so at least we still have a short week with them when returning! It's nice to ease back into working without kids there the first couple of days. Snow days are pretty rare here. Many years we get none. We did already get one in October which is unheard of, so I should just be happy we got one this year. Last year we got three in the same year, which was more than my previous 8 years of teaching combined. However, we do get MLK day, Presidents' Day, a conference comp day in February, and then spring break in March.
We get Presidents’ Week off in February. If we didn’t get that week off, it’d be too long of a haul from January-April.
Nice! In addition to the 4-day weekend I have in February, I also have Winter Break for an entire week, but it’s in April.
We have 2 Professional Activity days in January ( primarily for writing report cards), a long weekend in February, a week off in March and a 4 day weekend at Easter. It's then a long stretch until the end of June.
Same here, but we have to get through Feb too. I am thinking I have a minor dental check up and maybe a few mental health appointments I might make for relaxation. I have so many sick days banked that will never be used. I guess I can be thankful I haven't had to use them. I am going to try to use some up. They pay us for personal days, so I am going to save those!
We went back yesterday (teachers and students). Now coming up we have an inservice day 1/20, a 4 day weekend each in February, March, and April, a 3 day weekend in May and students are done 5/28 and teachers done 5/29. This is all pending no snow days, but I live in MN, so at least one of those breaks will most likely be shortened to make up for snow days I am sure we will have.
Update: I have 1/20 off (MLK Day), a 4-day weekend in February in observance of President’s Day, 8 days off in April (Easter Break), 5/29 off due to Memorial Day, and close out the year on 5/29.
Here's me, checking the weather forecast. I love snow days, but it's Utah so they are so... rare... But we have a nasty storm coming up so maybe...
I'm also getting a 4 day break for Easter. I've already planned a day off next month. We don't get Presidents' Day. *sigh*
I'm just sorry that I can't retire in May.......and I've actually had a good year, but still. The calm, the peace, the slowed down pace of life, it's all over Monday.
We don't get MLK or Memorial Day so that's why we get a whole week for winter break. Spring break is the 2nd week in April I think. I also have 2 personal days which I have to take before the end of June or lose them and a lot of sick time so I'm definitely taking off for my birthday and whatever else comes up.
I would if I could....lol At least, I'd like to be able to gift them to someone here, but I am pretty sure they all just disappear. I need to look it up because some1 told me you could get a small amount of $ for unused sick days yrs ago, but I am pretty sure it changed. I am definitely planning days off for Jan and especially Feb.
Boy, the more I read this thread, I'm so glad I am out of the rat race. We are on the way home from our seven week vacation around the US. Sure beats being in the classroom!!
We are geocachers and part of our trip was finding out of the way geocaches. Those hunts lead you to many unique and out of the way interesting places. Before we left we consulted one of those books that tells you about the most unique places to visit in each state. This trip we stayed south to keep out of the weather. In September we are leaving again to make the trip to California along the northern route.
Last day of break. Slowly getting ready--finishing up some grading and planning for the week while watching some Hallmark movies and getting ready to watch the World Juniors gold medal game.
I need to do some laundry today. I usually do laundry Saturday, but I had a nail appointment yesterday, then did a few other things and forgot. Don’t really need anything since it is all vacation clothes . . . pajamas, t-shirts, and sweatpants. We don’t have kids until Tuesday, but we have meetings tomorrow. I will be presenting at our morning session, so I don’t even get to sit back and relax.
DH and I have been whiny all day. We said it must be awful for people who don’t like their jobs. We both love our jobs and have been complaining about going back to work all day today.
