Hi there, I homeschool a 12 year old boy. He's expressed interest in doing some Christmas activities (his friends in public school will have a party on the last day where they watch videos and eat sweets etc.) like going out for breakfast, listening to Christmas music and making a gingerbread house. I'm looking for some Christmas activities that are a bit more *educational*. Any ideas? I'm bringing some of my kid's picture books to him as inspiration, he'll start a project of making his own Christmas story book for his younger brother and sister. (or maybe taking an old story and twisting the ending around) thanks!
Why don't you take him to WalMart (or wherever) and let him pick a mitten off the Charity Tree? Then you can shop for some toys, clothes, whatever, go home and wrap them up, and bring them back to the store. All kinds of lessons about money, budgets, charity, choosing appropriate sizes, geometry (wrapping is math, you know) and art. (bows, stickers, etc.) Just a thought. I don't think I've ever heard of a child being homeschooled by someone other than a parent.

We have a few "homeschool groups" in our area. They share teaching duties and resources with several families.
