A couple of us from school have been invited to a co-worker's (and dear friend) daughter's first birthday and christening this weekend and we are stumped when it comes to a gift. She's the second daughter, so they have clothes galore, and we want to get something a little more memorable than that. Any ideas?

The book Happy Birthday to You by Dr. Seuss!!! You each could write a little message to her in it...

I absolutely love the website personalizationmall.com For my son's Baptism, I bought him a personalized cross with his name. I try to buy him a lot of personal things from there because his name is not very common and can't be found in stores. It is too late to order from there now, but keep it in mind for next time.

    red plate
It's a plate that she will use after each special event in her life. She writes on it with permanent marker "Baptism 4-28-06" and everything else. We display ours on the kitchen wall.

Great ideas everyone. I'm going to keep your idea to use in the future, Rabbitt--I love it!

We went shopping yesterday--the christening was this morning and ended up getting a Peter Rabbit book and a gift certificate (and an extra book for big sister!).
