Do you guys know how exactly they measure IQ? What type of questions do they ask in order to determine someone's IQ level?
And what about the theory of multiple intelligences? Shouldn't those be considered?

Also, take a look at this article that talks about the difference between Chinese schools and American schools. One of the difference as stated was that Chinese teachers are rewarded with merit pay when academic growth is shown base on tests. Don't some schools in America give merit pay?

Interesting the video doesn't provide references for their data. Video was produced by a non -profit...I went to their website...kind of hard to figure out exactly what their agenda is. I don't dispute there are many schools that old be doing a much better job for students...I jst ont think business rope are the ones to lead the way.:2cents:

Intelligence isn't a fixed construct. There are different theories about how to measure it, what it means, what it doesn't, etc. Definitely good questions to ask about what measures were included.

Also, are the same groups being compared. I mean, are they testing the cream of the crop or all students? One thing that bugs me about comparisons between countries is that in the US, we test all students in public schools. In many other countries, only the top students are being tested. And then they compare the results to us. Apples vs. oranges.

In many other countries they do not educate all students.

In Japan for instance (I realize the article was about China), they have to take an entrance exam to be allowed into High School, and, High School is not free.
