I was thinking that a good writing assignment for my 3rd graders would be to have them write newspaper articles but I can't seem to find any examples to show them. Are there any elementary level newspapers I can get my students to read? I was the same sort of content the regular paper has, just at a lower reading level. Thanks!

You can get real copies from Cynda Mort at Melrose Elementary School in St. Petersburg, Florida. Call and request, I guess, and she'll send them. She has the best examples in Florida, I'd say. :)

Also maybe contact your local NIE (Newspapers in Education).

Where are you in FL? Your username tells all! :)

You might try "Weekly Reader." It's an elementary-level magazine rather than a newspaper, but it may have the kind of articles you're looking for.
