I think we will go back to work tomorrow, but I don't think the vote to suspend will be overwhelming. Schools seem fairly divided. It really could go either way.

It's going to be an interesting day tomorrow, not only for us but for the kids and their parents as well. I only hope none of us has to listen to further criticism. This has been a tough fight and it's still not over until we vote on whether to accept the contract in about two weeks. All we did was agree to suspend the strike while the board puts the contract together. We could vote to resume the strike in a few weeks if they don''t hold to their end and write up the contract with all that has been promised. It's going to be a tense time until voting day. Still, overall, I'm thrilled to be seeing my students tomorrow!!

I'm worry too about tomorrow. I know there were a couple of teachers who felt strongly about continuing the strike and got even upset that the rest was not listening to them.

For all it's worth, we learn a lot and we can still continue fighting by paying closer attention to legistature.

I'm so happy to go back to work tomorrow!!:)

:whistle:There's no telling what he'll do... He's a weirdo for sure! He is a perfect example of what's wrong with our "elected" officials. Remember when monarchies crumbled because of fools inheriting the throne? (Gene pools DO eventually dwiddle down...) The voice of the people needs to gain strength again because I don't believe, for a minute, we ever want people like him in a position of power. He is a poster child for why EVERYONE MUST EXERCISE THEIR RIGHT TO VOTE! :2cents:

I always think of y'all when my hubby & I watch the show "BOSS." Kelsey Grammer's character is sooooo evil and vindictive, and I'd hate for y'all to have to face him, lol.

It was way more overwhelming than I anticipated it would be. I wish the officers speeches at the meeting were taped!

I too am excited to see my children tomorrow.

I think that as a union we will all be more likely to be unified and watch out for what is happening to us and each other.

This fight is far from over. We're wearing red again tomorrow. Then I need to retire it for a few weeks.

I just want to say to the Chicago teachers, that you guys do what you gotta do to get what is right! :)
In my district there are so many things wrong - for example teachers going from 225 days to 210 (brand new teachers had to go down to 190) and now they're having talks of all teachers going down to 190, but have the option to work extra days for less that half the pay (??) This is a loss of pay of 7 weeks.
The worst thing is, they can't strike.

So because you can, take advantage of that, that's why it's there!

These schools are year round (community and court schools, institutions). I know, 225, 210 or even 190 days sound like a lot of days and more money. To me 190 would sound great, too, as long as I got a teaching position and not just subbing.

But I do understand teachers, who have been working 225 days for years and years and were used to that salary, and now they're cut 3 weeks and are facing another 4 weeks of pay cut.
