Oops! My computer posted me 2ce. OK, while I am back on, I've been pondering animal intelligence. I'll bet as research continues in this area, we'll be surprised at how much they truly know and can learn.

    I need to vent.
I just had a rather stressful thing occur....the night before a Monday.
In my area, it is almost midnight.
My son's play room had leaks from the upstairs bathroom. Had to fix it, but some of his toys are wet. Then, I go to the bathroom and realize it is flooded. To make matters more annoying, near the bathroom is a mat. I picked up the mat because it was above his play room and there was leftover water under most of the mat.
I am now too restless to go to bed and am worried about my son's play room.

I know there are bigger fish to fry, but I created this thread to talk about our day, our problems, and "just wanted to tell you" posts. Also, instead of creating a whole bunch of threads....I decided to condense a bunch of personal stuff in ONE large thread.

    Life Update:
Well, for dinner.......I had Simply Salad Ranch and Bacon. Also, I had some Dr. Pepper (2 liter). Then, I had Butterscotch Hot Chocolate.
The after math taste of all that is quite interesting....that's all I can say about that.

Again, this post is the appropriate thread, as this thread was created to post nonsense that was unrelated to teaching.

A few minutes ago, via email, I was informed that I was required to use the BLP approach for ELA in my classroom. I have some knowledge about this "program".
My main concern is related to scheduling, along with adjusting my ELA program to the new approach.
The BLP takes around two hours, based on previous research that I have conducted.
I would like some help/guidance and/or insight from other teachers.

Anyone getting a mid winter break this month? I can't wait. Everyone at school seems burned out even though we just got done with winter break.
My principal is cracking down on lazy teachers. Thank goodness I always have my lessons ready since apparently some teachers just wing it every day. We are now required to have 2 days worth of emergency lesson plans ready. I spent 2 days working on them getting them perfect to show the principal. She told me she trusts me that I have them so she doesn't have to review them LOL I can't believe I spent 2 days on them!!

After a lovely week of chasing kids around the room, arguing with kids about work, playing "catch me if you can" with homework assignments, and juggling a thousand tasks, I came home today and took a long nap. I missed dinner, though....but I, honestly, don't care.

About a week ago, I just received an email from a student who I taught about seven years ago.
This student is in high school and from what I can remember had dyslexia and ADHD.
The student sent me an email to tell me how high school is going and thanked me for helping him in mid-elementary. This student is in a general education classes. In fact, the student is in advanced English, advanced Social Studies, advanced Science, and advanced music.
Wow! Seven years ago....that was only my third year of teaching in this particular setting. I have been teaching in this setting for ten years, which means that I have been teaching for a little more than two decades.
Has a situation similar occurred to you? If so, I would love to hear about it!

No, today is a snow day for parts of New York State.
Since you are from New York State (i think), I was wondering if your school district was closed for emergency purposes.

@ms.irene Hello. Hoping to not be a burden, but out of curiosity, what state do you teach in?
If you are in the state that I teach in, we have met before.

I have fish. My buddy jumps up now when I feed him. It’s so cute! I take of my neighbor teacher’s fish. I Lost one and a few at home. Too heartbreaking to have another one in my classroom. I teach Pre-K and I believe I would totally lose it if I saw one of the kids do something awful to then. So I care for fish next door when neighbor teacher is out...peek over there once in awhile. Out of sight... less I worry....

Really don’t think the whole water thing is such a big deal. Maybe, at least to make sure it’s room temperature. I know a person who uses 3 kinds of chemicals. Tests the water & stuff. I add ready-to-use drops & mix in tap water, pour it in and I’m done. The little guys seem fine to me.
