I heard a rumor that if you were to work in a charter school, you would not be able to get a job in the public schools. That they will not want you. Is this true? I am looking for a job in september and I want to keep it open but I really want to end up in a public school. :help:

We have a charter school in our city, and some wonderful teachers in our district left to go to that school.

If your qualifications are on point, I don't see an issue.

I too have heard that. But, honestly, it depends on the district. I have a couple of friends who spent 4 yrs. or more in a charter school & then got jobs in a public school. Some districts won't honor years of service.

People want great teachers. If you were successful they will want you. If you wash out, they probably won't.

I think it really depends on both the Charter you worked for and the district you are applying to. No real answer.

I agree with what the others said, there's no clear cut answer. It just depends on the teacher and the school. We hired a science teacher from a charter and she's *fabulous*! It's not working at the charter that made her that way. It's just who she is as a teacher!
