This is crazy. A rapper called chance has decided to come out with an awards shows for teachers.

I have no idea who the rapper is but the post blew up on reddit and thought it's be worth posting here.

The article can be found by typing "chance rapper teacher awards" into google (I can't post links).

I don't know how i feel about it. Awards for teachers? I just can't see a way it'll be truly reflective of the tough work unknown teachers do. I mean how's a teacher busting their socks off in a small town in the middle of nowhere ever going to be recognised.

My gut says they'll go off whoever happened to have particularly good score increases in their class or something. In my opinion that doesn't truly take into account the effort and difference being made. It's beyond numbers.

Oh god look at me ranting. I guess at the end of the day any appreciation and recognition towards the teaching profession is a great thing.

I don't know his music, but I do know that he's big on education. He's done a lot for Chicago kids. A few weeks ago he had an event and gave away thousands of backpacks with supplies. Any popular musician encouraging kids to do well in school is ok in my book.

I went to look at the articles and it looks like the specifics haven't been sorted out yet, but I like the idea of celebrities using their platform to advocate for education.

And since I CAN post links, here's the Chicago Tribune's article.

Looks like the only drawback is you might have to meet with James Corden!

If I was giving a prize for Britain's most unfunny man it would be a choice between him and Ricky Gervais.
