I am somewhat confused, please don't blast me out for
asking this questions. I know the requirements of getting
a professional certification....but I would like to know
do you get your professional certification during the
first year of employment. Or do you have to work for a
public school system for two yrs..also if I haven't worked
for a school system for 2 yrs is there a way in which I
    can get my professional certification.

    Thanks

Oh, I will contact the DOE on Wednesday but I would like to have an idea now..

The wording is confusing on this, and, if read like I think it does, provides a disgusting Catch-22.

The certifcation specialist in my county told me that the only thing I need , after all my classes and testing are passed now, is a job. She said, "I'm not trying to be snide or funny. You do need a job; that's it." My question is whether substituting counts toward that 2 years...

Sorry I'm not much help, but do know that others are just as confused. Let us know if DOE is any help!

I am sorry that my question was not clear. I have a teaching position now, I have a temporary certification. My question was do I have to work in the state of Florida for two yrs before I am issued with my professional certification. (Considering when I am done with my test)

I read on the Fldoe website which states, that an issuance of the professional certification can be issued to non job seekers. But that individual must submit their fingerprint.... I would like to know does anyone know the process for this? Also, do I have to work in the school system for two to three yrs.

    Thanks..

If this is not clear now I give up...

Adria, are you a career changer? What does your eligibility statement say?

No, I am not a career changer...my statement of eligibility states I need to get hired with a school and my fingerprints needs to be cleared..Frodolass, I got the answer to my question yesterday.

    Thank you

I was stressing myself out for nothing....

adria - OK, I'm glad you got an answer.

Stressing out is something I think we all do from time to time, especially when dealing with the DOE :)
