Tell me about the centers you use for all subjects. I'm looking for ideas, preferably something that doesn't require tons of prep time or $$$.

    These are my centers typically:

    Computers
Listening (perhaps your library has resources that you can use)
Word work - you can use magnetic tiles, wiki stix, pocket charts
    Independent reading
    Writing (practice mini lessons learned)
    Journal Writing (open writing)
Spelling - practice writing spelling words many different ways
Poetry - recite poems, find rhyming words, illustrate a poem
read/write the room - go around room and look for reads they can read, write specific words like nouns, verbs, etc.

Later in the year I add things like Game center, Buddy reading and Library Center but I need to see some maturity before I do so.

I highly recommend this website for learning centers www.fcrr.org.
You can click on "For Teachers" and then there are tons of fabulous learning activities that you can just print out, cut up, and put in a ziploc baggie! this site also has a great search feature to help you search for what you need.
