I'm not actively looking for another job. But yesterday I got a call out of the blue from a great school in the area, asking if I might be available to interview for a possible position they are creating. I had sent my resume to them a year ago-not even for a teaching position-and they held on to it for all this time. Wherever this goes, it was a huge self esteem boost. I remember drooling over this school's history and philosophy-def. a unique vision. And then they just called, out of the blue! From a year-old resume!! I'm not putting my money on it-they aren't even sure exactly what they are looking for, but that almost makes it better. Just an informal interview to see if we fit together, and we'll see where it goes!
That sounds great! You should be so proud that they still remembered you after a year. Means you are a great teacher, which a lot of us already knew
That's awesome. I've gotten jobs that way a few times. I hope you get it. --------------------------- “Learning is a treasure that will follow its owner everywhere.”
That sounds awesome! Good luck! I am keeping my fingers crossed for you! If it is meant to be... That is so cool! Congrats
I bet it is someone who lurks on here (or even posts) knows what a fabulous and innovative teacher you are. I know if you lived near me I would lobby to get you a job! Congratulations in any case
Thanks, all. I'm not sure what I want right now, but I'm enjoying the thrill of the call and the idea of talking education with someone next week!
Thats great jem! Im sorry it didnt work out with the other job , I didnt realize that it had ended Good Luck on the future plans!!
Thanks, guys. I need to start getting ready, but nerves have finally hit me, and I'm nervous to even get ready...
Got a second interview! Looks very promising. I'll give more details if it actually works out. But the highlight of the day was the fact that I was interviewed not only by the elementary director, but also the FOUNDER of the school. Which I was hugely in awe of, and she complimented the heck out of my resume and answers. And immediately said she wanted a second interview with me. Woot! I'll keep you guys updated-I'm waiting on a date and time for the second one.
Wow. Got a call today from the director-he's inviting me to attend the Reggio Exhibit with them next week down in Santa Monica. Ha! Talk about trial by fire. I have to figure all this out...
Jem, is this all about infant/preschool aged kids? Your life goes so fast I can't keep up (being so lazy not to just pick up the phone!)... Also, did you get my email about the new school in my town?
Shelly-they would want me to focus on 3-5th grade, so I'd be bringing the methodology up to upper elementary. They have a pre-school through fifth program now, but they want to strengthen the upper el. I'd also be working on marketing and development (fundraising) for them. I like the fact that I wouldn't only be in the classroom-I like the business aspect of it a lot. And apparently I would get paid more for doing jobs outside of teaching-what a concept. Getting compensated for extra work.... I did get your e-mail about the school, but I couldn't find anything on it-not even a posting on edjoin. It sounds awesome. A long commute again, though-boo.
