Are there any other careers that you can have besides teaching with a BS in Elementary ed and a MS in Sped?

Human resources in all aspects: if you can connect with people's inner first graders, you can connect with just about anyone.

I wouldn't really call it a career, but I am a PCA worker for a 4 year old boy with Autism.

I was a Christian Education and youth ministry director at a church. I compared it to being the principal of a Sunday School plus you get to hang out with teenagers on weekends.

What about working at the local early intervention service? We have a place here that provides services to children w/ disablitilites 0-3, their families, and then adults with disabilities. They hire people with education degrees (or students working on ed degrees) as developmental specialists, working with the children and their families.

One of the things I did before teaching that I loved is being a museum educator. You can find lots of interesting educational positions at museums. Children's museums, science museums, art museums, etc all have education departments for school groups. The job requires many of the same skills, allows you to still teach/work with kids, but in a completely different environment!

This might be a stretch for you but Aldi is looking for district managers. They have a training program and the starting salary is $70,000. aldiuscareers.com/DistMgr.aspx

I, too wonder what else I can do besides teaching. I certainly don't want to stay in the classroom for yrs.

Anywhere children go on field trips. Museums, zoos, planetaruims, aquariums, etc. Like sciencegirl said, they use educators as facilitators for field trips.

It wouldn't be as exciting as elementary, but large corporations are always looking for trainers who have sound teaching skills.

Just out of curiosity, did you want to teach before and have now changed your mind? If so, why? Or, did you always envision yourself doing something in education, just not teaching? Just curious.
