Which comment on a report card would be correct:

Bobby needs to focus on his spelling skills.

    OR

Bobby needs to focus on his Spelling skills.

I say Spelling should be capitalized.

I am asking all the experts!

    :thanks:

Why would it need to be capitalized?

It should be a lower case. 'Spelling' is not a proper noun.

It is not a proper noun, so it should not be capitalized.

A program- like Sitton Spelling- would be capitalized.

Spelling by itself is not a proper noun.

Only if it's a proper noun. It's not.
I'm a stickler about enforcing this with my students. One of my pet peeves.

Names of courses are usually only capitalized if they have a number after them or if they are a proper noun (like a language).

    Ex:

I got a good grade in history class.

I got a good grade in History 101.

I got a good grade in French class.
