Do any of you have to work a 2nd job during the summer to make ends meet? I'm just wondering what types of jobs other teachers work on the side!

I do some tutoring- not nearly as much as during the school year, but a few hours a week..it picks up again in August as kids come back from camp/vacations and parents are looking for a 'tune up' to get kids back on track for school. :D

I used to waitress, but my job this summer will be to take care of my newborn son, and I can't wait!

I don't "need" the money, but it is nice ... I teach for a community college.

I haven't worked a 2nd job in a looong time & I hope I never have to again. If I did, it's retail, bookstore, hotel, clerical type jobs that I apply for. The last 2nd part-time job I had was working at a convention center.

I don't work a second job because it would cut into my primary summer occupation...playing at the theme parks!

I teach an SAT prep course, as does my husband. We teach the same course-- he does verbal, I do math-- but on different days so childcare isn't an issue.

We both each do a week of summer school in our respective buildings. In our schools, it's a 1 week session: 4 hours a day. At the end of the week the kids take a final exam. Those who don't pass have failed out of school.

I also do some freelance writing when I can. He does photography on the side.

I personal train a least one day a week, sometimes more. I also work at a law office as a legal assistant.

I've been a Job coach for 2 summers and last summer I did 24 credits of my Masters! EEK! Still don't know how I did it! This summer I hope to do summer school (crossing fingers)!

I taught summer school last year, but don't think I will again. I enjoyed it, but the logistics won't work as well this summer. I'm hoping to get a free-lance writing job and may look into doing some tutoring.

I have two summer jobs to supplement my income. But I'd do both of them even if I didn't get paid!

I work at a resort during the summers. Hospitality is actually a love of mine. I fell into it after high school and while I got through the university. So, this summer I will be working at the resort.

I love not working over the summer. I am looking for spare change in the sofa cushions by the end, but enjoy the time at home. It goes so quickly.
