I have an interview tomorrow at noon but recently accepted another position on Fri. I was going to call today, but went to my aunt's funeral, burial, and repast and completely forgot until the school closed. What do you think about my email? Should I send it tonight? Should I call tomorrow? Thanks!

    Dear Mrs. X,
I would like to thank you for offering me the opportunity to interview at your school. It sounds like an amazing school! However, I have accepted another position and will not be able to make the interview. I am extremely sorry for any inconvenience this has caused and am also sorry for the short notice. Thank you again for everything.
    Sincerely,
    Me

P.S. I wanted to let you know as soon as possible, but will follow up with a phone call tomorrow morning.

Also, will I be black listed from this school or other schools. Will they tell everyone I cancelled last minute? Thanks!

I think it's fine, particularly with a follow up phone call.

For all they know, you accepted the other offer today.

Oh, and I'm sorry for the loss of your aunt.

No, you will not be blacklisted. It was both professional and courteous of you to send the e-mail and follow up with the phone call.

Prospects not showing up without any explanation would guarantee that no additional consideration would be given.

The number of people not showing up for interviews is amazing especially when you talked with them the day before and set up a time.

I had five interviews lined up on the same day and three more the next day (where there was a teacher shortage and I was only going to be in town for 2 days). I was offered a job on the spot at my second interview, so I had to cancel all the others. They were cool about it. However, that may have been common at the time!
