Can you go into your school on the weekends? I guess I have taken for granted that my principal will open the school on Saturdays (probably about once a month).

My previous school would open every Saturday during the first month of school, and the last month of school.

Today I am thankful because there is soooo much to do (only 1 1/2 more days of school left :p )

So what about you? Or would you even want to go in?

Yes, any time, day or night. We have a key that gets us into the building, the classrooms, the faculty room...

Even though we were closed yesterday I stopped in to Xerox a test for Monday. I ran into one of the English teachers who was Xeroxing a grading sheet for his term papers.

We, too, each have our own key - and the code to disarm the alarm. I go in all summer long as well as a full week before the teacher back-to-school days. Some teachers go in on weekends during the year, but I don't.

We also have our own key to get in. However, during the summer they close it down to get all the maintenance complete. They open it back up about 2 weeks before the teachers need to come back.

We have our own key as well. You can always find several of the 2-5th grade teachers in on Saturday or Sunday. Some of the middle school teachers also come in, but more infrequently.

We can go whenever we want to. I'm there on the weekend a couple times a month usually. Whenever I am, I usually do run into other teachers who are there as well. We can get in all summer, but since they move furniture out of the rooms to clean the floors, etc. you can't get much done so I start going back a few weeks before school starts.

We cannot get in after 11pm on weekdays or at all on weekends. In the summer there are usually a few weeks we cannot get in due to floors being waxed.
During the school year I would really like to be able to go in on the occasional weekend, but the district won't go for it.

We have the code to get into the building and a key to get in our rooms. I have really cut back on my weekend trips this year (except today) by I still come up to the school once or twice a month on the weekends. Thank goodness too since I need the classroom computer to do grades and other stuff. During the summer we can get into the building during the month of June. Then the building is closed until early August sometime for cleaning and floor waxing. I don't ususally see many teachers up here on the weekends as many of them live quite a ways from the school and/or have family activities that keep them busy all weekend.

We can go in anytime. I have a key and we were given a code for the security system. I did set the alarm off last time because they kept changing the procedure of the alarm! We have some insomniacs who come in at 3 am to start working!

Funny story...at my previous school, we were also allowed in but we had to disarm the security system. Our science specialist didn't know how to disarm it, so she entered the building and with her back pressed against the wall, inched her way down the hall to her bulletin board to put up student work. She asked at the next staff meeting how the other teachers were able to get any work done having to walk sidestepping with their backs to the wall.

We are kicked out at 10:30 during the week and not at all on weekends or days when there is no school. We can get in over the summer for the 2 weeks before school, but we have to be out by 3:30. It's a pain!!!

We have keys and codes to disarm the building so we can get in at anytime. I very rarely go in on the weekends anymore, but I spend a lot of time there in the summer.

There are a few weeks during the summer where they won't allow us in so they can clean the floors.

Wow, I am so jealous! We were told last fall that we had to be out of the building by 6:00. Needless to say, there were some very unhappy teachers.... :( but the principal stood by that decision. She will not be returning next year.... so hopefully, that rule will be changed!

We also have a key to our building, so we can go in anytime. It's strongly suggested not to be in the building alone after dark by yourself, but many of us still do it. Matter of fact, I'm up here right now.

We will get to keep our key for the summer. Since we are in a brand new building, there will only be one week this summer when we can't get in (because of waxing). That's fine with me. I'm so excited that we can get in. We can also leave things up on the walls. The only thing we have to do is make sure nothing is on the bookshelves that don't have wheels and tables.

    Nope

I'm not sure how late we can stay on the weekdays..though I have stayed after 8, during conference time...and we can not come in over the weekends. I really wish I could, being a new teacher this year. There is so much to do and I really need a quiet, distraction free environment. Weekends would have been perfect!

Pretty much the same here--although we have to be out by 2:30 those last 2 weeks before school.

i don't know what i would do if i couldn't go to my school on weekends. we have a code that we punch in on the door and a key to our rooms. as a first year teacher i'm there EVERY weekend. i think i've only missed 3 or 4 weekends due to illness. hopefully they don't change letting us come in on the weekends. I LOVE IT!

I have my own key (we all do) to the main door, my classroom, the workroom, and the auditorium (actually on the 5th grade and K teachers have that one). The month of June is pretty much off limits whily they strip and varnish the floors, then it's fair game. Thank goodness because I need all the time I can get! :D

wow, i'm jealous.... we have to put our keys in our mailbox on our way out at the end of the night - that's the way we sign in and out... our doors to the building are locked from the outside at 5... so we can only get in if we see a custodian and can knock and get in... it's annoying... same thing for the weekend....consider yourself lucky if you have a key to the building! that'd be such a luxury

Ours is a carded ID slot to get into the building. Teachers have weekend hours and some summer days/hours that they can get into the building. The only problem is the office/copier/planning room is closed. Aides can only get in ten minutes before their scheduled time during the day. Most have keys to the classroom though. They leave when they are ready. They can't get in during the weekend.

We have keys to the building so our access is unlimited. Our keys turn off the alarm system when we enter the building and reactivate it upon our departure. There are a rare couple of days that we are "asked" not to be in the building due to floor waxing however, there are still ways to move about most of the building without messing up the wax. Last fall, I spent a good part of the weekend out at school. My girls were with my parents for the weekend, my hubby was at the lake, and I was at a softball tournament. After getting home each night, I spent several hours at the school. I had plenty of uninterrupted time... no one is there to chat with at 2am. :)

We are supposed to have these, but the building hasn't been signed off on yet. We will be getting them at the beginning of next school year.
