The other thread made me wonder, can others go on Pinterest at work? At my old school, we probably weren't allowed to, but I did, and nobody really monitored anything.

At my new school, I learned today, we can go on what we want (that's legal) as long as it's not during instructional time. New teachers to the district got an iPad today too and get to use them for whatever we want, as long as it's legal too. I thought that was nice. I don't really need much during school hours, but sometimes I do want to get something from Pinterest that I have in mind to use.

I haven't tried, but I'm pretty sure that Pinterest is blocked. Most sites are, including plenty of educational websites.

It was open most of last year, until about April. Now it is blocked. The school has petitioned the state department to allow this site.

If we let our tech people know an educational reason to have a site unblocked, they will do it for us.

I can, and I only know this because I went on to reference one of my pins that was for a lesson I was doing. I don't 'surf' Pinterest while I'm at school.

I was able to at my old school, as we didn't have anything blocked. My new school has it blocked. I have to save things I want to use from Pinterest from home so that I can access them at school.

I was happy to see that it was blocked. Pinterest is a time sucker for me and I could see myself pinning the night away after school instead of grading papers and whatnot.

I work for a very large district and you'd think they would block Pinterest, but they don't. :) I can access personal email, Pinterest, teacher forums, etc. My last school seem to block almost EVERYTHING.

I've never tried, but I'm sure we could. No one really monitors what websites the teachers go to. 99% of my pins are education based, so I don't see my admins having a problem with it.

To the best of my knowledge, no sites are blocked to teachers.

That said, I've never tried to go to Pinterest.

I've never tried, so I'm not sure if it's blocked.

During the school day, I only have time to access email and, sometimes, check in here at lunch.

I have 30 minutes free for lunch. I take that time to chat with colleagues and eat. My plan period is for planning/grading. Mostly every interesting site is blocked at my school but I really don't have time (or take time) to look at them anyway.

I haven't tried. I can access it on my iPod, which uses the school wireless network. That means it is probably open.

I do pin school stuff, but I dont need to access it at work.

It's not blocked for us. Our IT people are so hit and miss. We can get on Facebook (why?) but not Twitter which has a HUGE and HELPFUL educational PLN. We can see the "Drudge Report" but we can't see the Huffington Posts. These people drive me crazy.

We have the same blocks as the students so I'm guessing we can't go on it but I've never tried. If I want to see anything during the school day, I go on at lunch on my phone.

I wouldn't ever go on it to surf, but sometimes during my planning period, I'd want to print something I pinned so I could use it in a future lesson.
