My certification is in Biology and Middle Science in South Carolina. My previous license in Michigan was in Earth and Space Science and Biology. Next year I put Earth Science as my number one for my "wish list." My question is am I certified to teach it? South Carolina does not have an Earth and Space Science Certification so my Michigan License went our the window for that. Thanks!
What science certs does South Carolina have? Does your district have any type of certification expert? They'd probably be able to help you out.
I think this document will answer your question: http://ed.sc.gov/agency/se/Educator-Services/Licensure/documents/CertManual102013.pdf. See page 38: it seems one can teach an elective in geology with a science certification and six to twelve semester hours of coursework in geology. If you've got the hours, you can probably update your certification fairly straightforwardly.
Hey, thanks! I called the SC dept of ed and requested a change of action form! A to Z is the way to Bee!
