I am currently unemployed. I hope to have my first full-time job as a teacher starting in August. I have had one interview. Can I buy things from sites like Really Good Stuff where it makes you enter your title and place of employment even though I am not currently employed? Is it bad if I lie and put a random school? What do they use this information for? I will have it sent to a residential address (my apartment).

    Sincerely,

    anxious newbie trying to prepare

Of course you can buy from them. Even if you never planned to work, they would happily take your money. Enjoy shopping!

They will send catalogs to your school as well as to your house. Happy shopping!

Shop away! I would caution, however, about spending much money on a classroom you don't have yet.

Are you hoping to use school budget or your own money for these purchases? I agree with MrsC- don't spend a lot of your own money.

See if you can find the Scholastic $1 sales on teacher resources. Maybe someone here can confirm that they still have them. In years past, I bought incredible stuff at these sales.

It is fine. I have referred parents to these catalogs before.

Maybe I misunderstood the question. If the OP wants to know if she can order from "teacher catalogs", then yes. They will gladly take your money. Just list your home address. No need to make up a school name. There are plenty of homeschool families, free lance tutors and parents who order from such catalogs and online sites.

    It's
Yeah, it's just that they make you choose from a drop down list. I can't just put my address and say substitute teacher.

I've always thought that anyone could but from these companies; however, I agree with others on spending money without knowing for sure that you have a job.

I won't be getting my school $$ for another month so I just ordered some stuff to use for summer school. Having it shipped to my house. No problem.

Usually there's an option for "other" or "my school's not listed".
