My mom has asked for some new perfume for Christmas. I don't wear perfume nor am I good at deciding what smells good to someone else. ;) Does anybody have any suggestions? She is in her 60s. I'd like to go to the store and try just a few to see if any would work rather than sniff test so many that they all start to smell the same! :)

Lady Gaga's perfume smells pretty good .

    (note: yes, I'm joking)

The Faith Hill perfume is pretty pleasant, believe it or not.

That's what I was going to suggest. It has a nice, soft smell.

Try to find out what her preference is. For example fruity, flowery, spicy, etc. I love sweet/spicy, I prefer that over anything else. Flowery or fruity would really depend on the actual perfume. for example some women prefer perfume that smells more like a man's cologne (I don't know the right name for that category), and they would probably not like anything flowery.

So if you know at least the type of perfume she likes, you can narrow down your search and not be so overwhelmed.

Both my mom and I wear Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue. I get compliments on it (mostly from random strangers in close quarters, like on an elevator) ALL the time. Even my students tell me I smell good! :)

My most recent gift from hubby was Hanae Mori, and it is spicy-ish; Baiser Vole (not sure if I spelled that correctly) is a nice clean scent that I love.

Edit: Doh! I thought this was for you. For your mom, I would suggest a classic, as already mentioned.

I have allergies, and I have good luck with the Dior fragrances. My favorites are Hypnotic Poison, Addict, and Addict 2. I also like Chanel No. 5.

    How about Snooki's perfume?
Has anyone tried it yet? I saw it advertised and I was just
wondering about what it smelled like.

    Do this.

There is a perfume questionnaire on Sephora's website that helps you narrow down your choices once you know preferences.

Edited: Ok. They USED to have fragrance finder tool. I couldn't find it just now but I did find these.

My own mother wears Donna Karen's Cashmere and loves it. She's about 61.

My personal favorite is DKNY's Fresh Blossom (it comes in a small round container that looks like an apple). It smells really good.

You absolutely need to find out what she prefers in a perfume. I'm a citrus and light floral person; I cannot stand musk, patchouli, amber, or sandalwood

I wear Bond No.9's Little Italy every day.
